What is it?

The GreenHat Module for the IoTT Stick has 16 servo outputs to drive RC servos, 32 digital input lines to receive input information from buttons or sensors. It can drive up to 33 WS2812 NeoPixels for status information of the connected servos or input buttons, and more. The GreenHat is ideal to drive up to 16 servo equipped turnouts in a switch yard and provides local activator buttons as well. Note: To work, the module needs an IoTT Stick inserted in the center receptacle. The IoTT Stick is sold separately.

Why did you make it?

The GreenHat is the current status of a longer development documented on the YouTube channel https://www.youtube.com/c/IoTTCloud. The goal is to provide some simple and flexible devices that can be configured in many ways to support model railroad layout control.

What makes it special?

The GreenHat function module for the IoTT Stick is part of a modular design family using communication modules and function hats as well as a highly configurable software that can serve as core for a variety of control tasks on a model railroad layout.

Rocks

The Green Hat (as well as other hats and the IOTT stick with with they work) are great, and great fun. Hans is a wonderful contributor to the electric model train hobby, and a great educator. I should add that it appears that he is providing these items to us a the cost of the components - with nothing added to cover his design work and software! (Documentation is in his YouTube video - which are a much watch for their own sake).

Wonderful piece of technology

Implementation is superb, works as expected, easy to configure and use. Allows integration with other modules, LocoNet (both command station based and stand-alone, both wired and wirelessly) plus converts LocoNet to DCC commands. Did I mention that it also works with JMRI and Node-Red? And it does this all at the same time.
