What is it?

RedHat++ Shield is a stackable Arduino Shield that adds Loconet connectivity to a DCC++EX Arduino based DCC command station. It features 2 Loconet-T and 1 Loconet-B outlet to connect throttles, Loconet detector modules, and additional boosters. The 50mm Grove port cable to connect the IoTT Stick is included. The NeoPixel pig tail allows to connect a NeoPixel chain to display block occupancy or turnout positions, and more. It needs an IoTT Stick Plus (sold separately) and a DCC AUX Shield (sold separately) to operate and communicate with Loconet. It works with Arduino UNO or Mega featuring the DCC++EX command station software.

Note: The RedHat shield requires a DCC AUX shield as power supply!

Why did you make it?

Many people like using the DCC++EX Arduino based DCC command station but have some existing Loconet devices they can no longer use. Or they would like to have greater flexibility in connecting third party sensor modules etc. to their layout. The RedHat++ Shield provides the interface to do that and to integrate these devices with PC control software like JMRI.

What makes it special?

It is easy to install on an existing DCC++EX system and greatly enhances its functionality.

Fantastic - DCC-EX plus LocoNet

Great product. Very easy to install and configure thanks to Hans' excellent videos.
I love the flexibility of DCC-EX but sometimes want to use an old school LocoNet throttle, in my case a Piko Smartcontrol Light.
