What is it?

The Tinkerface Shield is a combined DCC and Loconet interface board providing these interfaces in a form factor that fits the Arduino UNO and Arduino Mega microcontroller pinout.

The DCC interface part is a differential input interface providing the input signal as DCC A and DCC B on pins 2 and 3 of the Arduino pin header. It works with track voltages from about 8 to 28 Volts, so it can be used with any scale.

The Loconet interface part provides two Loconet sockets and connects to the Arduino via pins 6 (transmit) and 8 (receive). A jumper allows for activating a 15mA current source to make the board act as Loconet master.

In addition, the board features a Grove port which can be configured to connect either the DCC or the Loconet signal to an additional device such as the IoTT Stick.

The main purpose of the board is to be used as interface board for the IoTT SilverHat booster.

What makes it special?

It is an all in one interface that allows to connect an Arduino controller to either DCC or Loconet (or both) without any additional wires as the signals are delivered directly to the Arduino GPIO pins.
