What is the MX Lights about?

It is a whole new low cost lighting system. A 3x3 matrix (MX) of RGB LED strips. A controller to handle those lights without the need for a computer. And a piece of software for creating your own effect shows.

What makes MX Lights unique?

• programmability - you can create new shows for your system as often as you want, so the effect will never become played out
• autonomy - just turn on the power; there is no need for a computer to operate the LEDs
• lights synchronization - it can synchronize 9 lights together and display any kind of effect
• the included software - create and simulate shows with a simple and straightforward software on Windows, Mac or Linux

What makes the project "just" great?

• synchronization with music - the controller can 'listen' to music, detect beats and synchronize effects with them
• power - the LED strips used are a very powerful source of light; it is almost impossible to look directly at 1m of the strip, and our system has 9m of them!
• price - you would pay much more money for a similar illumination system and you'd probably even need a computer running all the time in the background

How much is it?

Of course, everything fun has its cost. The MX Lights pack is more expensive than any simple 'silly' effects, but also offers much more value for its price.

The DMX devices are something completely different. They are designed to control the glow in real time (although some devices with record capabilities also exist) and a complete set which could do something similar to what MX Lights do, would cost a huge amount of money.
