What is it?

This is a product aimed at folks making Dungeons and Dragons terrain, Warhammer 40K, Age of Sigmar, and any other wargaming kind of terrain. It's also designed to fit in with those making model rail systems.

This board connects on to a Wemos D1 Mini ESP8266 processor board to allow the system to:

Drive 8ch of LED's without additional resistors
Set the brightness across all the LED's using a single knob/screwdriver
Use the power from a USB power Bank, and keep the powerbank alive with an occasional pull of current to GND
Control the system via Wifi (using the ESP8266 etc)

Why did you make it?

I'm a complete nerd. Electronics is a passion, but recently, I discovered crafting and terrain making! Why not mix both? All Terrain-Tronics projects are named after Welsh castles (there are plenty of them!). This board allows you control up to 8LED's on your piece of terrain. The software is Arduino compatible, and is expected to develop over time. Current support is for running patterns across the LED's (imagine a airport landing strip etc).

What makes it special?

It's size and functionality. In this case, it plugs into a small 34mm x 26mm form factor and drives 8 LED's with constant current. Constant current gives you a much better chance of brightness matching between LED's and between colors. The additional circuitry to help keep batteries alive is an important feature too. Way too many USB power bricks power down if your circuit isn't pulling enough current. Harlech aids this by having circuitry that you can control to pull enough current occasionally to keep it alive!
