This combines the 2-channel relay board, 5V power supply, and "main" PCB onto a single circuit board, eliminating much of the wiring required to make the build work.
NOTE - This PCB has a different screw pattern and will not fit cases designed for my older PCBs. A compatible case design is available as an option alongside the purchase of this PCB, or for printing yourself using design files available on GitHub.
This PCB is part of the BrewPi-ESP project. The original BrewPi project is an open-source temperature controller for the purpose of controlling beer, mead, and wine fermentation temperatures incredibly accurately, using a small microcontroller (originally an Arduino), a relay, some temperature sensors, and a Raspberry Pi. This project reimplements the open source BrewPi firmware on both the ESP8266 and ESP32.
This PCB is designed to allow connecting an ESP32 to the other hardware necessary to run the BrewPi firmware and control fermentation temperatures for your brewery. This specific board was designed to use a LoLin D32 or D32 Pro ESP32 microcontroller and integrate with either the LoLin TFT module or a compatible generic TFT module. This PCB integrates both the power supply and relays, which eliminates much of the wiring and allows for an extremely compact design. This specific PCB comes with the SMD components soldered on, requiring only certain TH components to be soldered by the end user. This PCB also includes user-selectable OneWire voltage, enabling a broad range of temperature sensors.
This board does not have terminals for directly connecting temperature sensors - it is intended to be connected to a separate RJ-45 sensor board via an ethernet cable. This sensor board is (optionally) available alongside this PCB at no additional cost.
This PCB comes partially assembled. Although all the SMD components and many of the through hole components are already mounted, you will need to solder on the fuses and (optionally) the box header.
To complete your BrewPi build you will need (not included) a Lolin D32 or D32 Pro. You will also need the requisite hardware for the screen depending on the option you select. If using wired temperature sensors, you will also need the BrewPi-ESP sensor breakout board mentioned above, DS18b20 temperature sensors, and an ethernet cable to connect the sensor breakout board to this "main" PCB.
This PCB includes all SMD components and many TH components pre-soldered to the board. This bundle includes the following additional TH components which are required for use, but will need to be soldered on by you:
Part | Qty |
---|---|
8A Fuse | 1 |
2A Fuse | 1 |
10-Pin (2x5) Box Header (Optional) | 1 |
The fuses are required to be soldered on for the PCB to function. The box header is optional, but enables the use of non-LoLin TFTs.
A complete build will typically interact with mains voltage, and therefore should be enclosed in a case while in use. I have designed a case for this PCB which can optionally be added to the purchase or printed yourself using STLs available on GitHub. If you choose to purchase the case, please be sure to select the appropriate lid style for the screen you intend to use.
