A butterfly badge add-on made for MCH2022

We created an LED butterly add-on and an app that goes with it for the MCH2022 badge. You might recognise the butterfly from the event! Each are different, once plugged into the badge the butterfly awakens and show its true colours.

A demo for SAO IDs

The butterfly was made as a demo for the badge add-on ID system created by Uri Shaked to identify add-ons by reading the EEPROM on I2C bus. It can also read the attached data: which, in this case, is the unique colour palette of the butterfly!

How to use the add-on

1) First assemble the add-on! We have instructions and photos on our website.

2) (optional) Test the add-on was soldered properly, we recommend to try both arduino sketches to test if the EEPROM and LEDs are soldered correctly.

3) Try reading the add-on on the badge! Get the app on the hatchery (Hatchery > ESP32 native binaries > Hardware > MCH2022 Butterfly [~])

4) Alternatively if you do not have a MCH2022 badge, you can read the ID and light up the butterfly using an arduino!
