This is designed as an aid to prototyping RCBus modules on solderless breadboards. It allows bus signals to be easily connected to a breadboard with Dupont cables.
The module includes flexible I/O address decoding, so you don't need to include such circuitry on every prototype. The decoding has jumpers to configure the start address and range. This includes allowing partial decoding with shadow addresses.
The address decoding circuit provides an I/O enable signal (/IOEN) and also separate read and write versions (/IORD and /IOWR). This range of enable signals allows easy interfacing to most I/O devices.
This product has a user guide (PDF), which includes component sourcing and assembly instructions. This can be found in the documentation link below. PCB design files can be found at EasyEDA.com, where you can download Gerber files and order boards.
This module conforms to the RCBus specification v1.0 for RCBus-2014 enhanced 39-pin long modules.
The printed circuit board outline conforms to the RC2014 standard for full height modules.
The module is compatible with all RC2014 backplanes, all RCBus-2014 backplanes (RC2014 compatible including SC100 series) and all full RCBus 80-pin backplanes (including SC700 series). As far as I know, it is also compatible with all RC2014 modules, all RC2014 compatible modules and all RCBus modules - although there could be a few exceptions I don't know about.
When used with a 40-pin backplane the pins in the second row are not connected. As a result the enhanced bus signals /RFSH, /BUSAK, /HALT, /BUSRQ, /WAIT and /NMI are not available. Most applications do not need these signals.
The RCBus specification includes RCBus-2014 (both RC2014 standard 40-pin bus and RC2014 enhanced 60-pin bus) and also the full 80-pin RCBus. The 80-pin RCBus provides support for advanced Z80 features, such as the interrupt daisy-chain, as well as support for other processor families.
The printed circuit board is available on its own here.
