The SC500 series cards conform to the Z50Bus specification with cards being the recommended “standard” size (100mm x 75mm).
SC592 is a modular 8-bit computer built from the following SC500 series modules:
Some options are available when ordering.
SC502 provides power to the system from an 8 to 15-volt D.C. power supply at up to 1000 milliamps. Note, that the 8 to 15-volt power supply is not included in the kit. The card also includes a voltage supervisor and reset device to ensure reliable operation, including a power-up reset. Five LEDs provide status indicators. An alternative card is available with a 5-volt input.
SC504 is a Compact Flash interface card. Note, that a Compact Flash card is not included in the kit. A Compact Flash card provides fast file access for CP/M.
SC518 is a Z80 Central Processor Unit (CPU) card with a 7.3728 MHz clock oscillator.
SC519 is a memory card for use with a Z80 CPU. It includes 128k bytes of Flash memory and 128k bytes of Random Access Memory (RAM). The Flash is supplied programmed with the Small Computer Monitor (SCM), BASIC, and a CP/M loader.
SC521 is a dual serial port using a Z80 Serial Input/Output (SIO) chip. The card includes a baud rate generator which provides baud rates from 2400 to 115200 baud. Each port's baud rate is independently set with jumpers. Alternative serial cards are available. SC511 includes dual serial ports (Z80 SIO) and also a Counter/Timer (Z80 CTC). The Counter/Timer provides software selectable baud rates (rather than selection with jumpers) and also general purpose timers. SC520 is a single-channel serial port card based on the 68B50 ACIA.
The required CP/M files and instructions for installation are available on the Small Computer Central website.
Optional items:
Additional accessories, such as serial adapters and cables, can be found here.
The kit contains everything you need to build the computer, except a Compact Flash card, solder, tools, and cleaning materials.
You will also need a computer to act as a serial terminal and an 8 to 15-volt D.C. power supply at up to 1000 milliamps.
