UMK4X4 - MIDI TRS 3,5MM JACK - MMA RP-054 TYPE A COMPLIANT - V2.3

UMK4x4 is a 16 USB ports, 2x3 hardware midi IN/out with very powerful routing features, allowing you to transform the interface, e.g., into a MIDI MERGE or a MIDI THRU very easily.

This is a ready to use board with all components soldered, and a Bluepill with the last UMK4X4 firmware is provided.

The inclination towards smaller hardware devices has made it increasingly difficult to make use of DIN connectors for MIDI In/Out in the past few years. Many manufacturers have chosen to use 3.5mm "TRS" connectors instead.

It is why The KikGen Labs team designed the UMK4x4 V2.3 board, still based on the famous STM32F103 Bluepill. This board uses 3.5mm TRS female sockets instead of midi DIN, with full MMA RP-054 type A compliance. Midi DIN is still possible obviously, under the form of a 4 mini 3.5mm sockets to DINs rail board available at the store, or any MIDI DIN to TRS type A conversion cable in your hand.

To simplify connectivity, this board uses now also 3.5mm TRS jacks for bus power and data instead specific connectors, so you can use TRS cables when you need to stack several boards.

The current firmware version V2.5 supports full USB midi until 16xIN , 16XOUT plus routing features, enabling configurables standalone mode, merge mode, thru mode, split mode, midi transformation, midi clock, velocity curves, etc., huge sysex flow, configuration menu from serial USB, and is very fast and stable thanks to the STM32F103. More of that, you can aggregate until 5 3x3 boards seen as one by activating the "Bus mode".

The board is USB Powered, so no additional power supply necessary. It works driverless as a class compliant device, with Windows XP SP3, Vista 32 and 64 Bit, Windows 7 / 8 / 10 32 and 64 Bit, and Mac OS X, Linux ALSA, Akai MPC Live/X/Force, IOS, Android.
