In case of assembly you pay for my time assembling and testing, if you like to solder/learn to solder then KIT is for you, if you simply want to use it, then fully assembled unit is for you.

Each board is hand-assembled, no pick and place, this is why it is not so cheap.

What is it?

Bare PCB/kit/fully assembled board (check options on the right) for Atmega324P/PA/PB.

Hardware compatibility with Arduino Nano

This board is compatible with Arduino Nano to some level:

• all analogue pins are at the same position
• digital pins till pin 13 are at the same position
• the board is wider than original Nano, so any wires at breadboard need to be moved prior using this board to outer positions
• this board has more IO pins so it is longer, which need to be taken to consideration when planning to swap Nano for this board

For USB to serial conversion, CP2102 chip is used, this is required only if you wanna use upload over USB(with bootloader). If ICSP is used then this chip does not have to be soldered.

Why did you make it?

I was in need for drop-in replacement for Arduino nano with more functionality (pins, UARTs, I2C...), so I made a few boards for a few different/updated chips and while I was playing with this I designed more than what I needed (I mostly use breadboard compatible version). I designed this set of boards:

• Atmega328P/PA/PB board compatible with Arduino nano
• Atmega328P/PA/PB board compatible with Arduino Uno
• Atmega324P/PA/PB board compatible with Arduino nano
• Older Atmega324P/PA board compatible with Arduino nano
• Atmega324P/PA board compatible with Arduino mega (PB version not produced yet, only designed, check github)
• Atmega2560 board compatible with Arduino mega with all pins routed to pin headers

What makes it special?

(In case 324PB version is installed)

• support for PB version of ATmega324
• more IO then standard Arduino based on atmega328 but still hand-soldering chip
• better USB to serial chip (CP2102) then on chines clones
• still open-source

In case of other MCU's these have more IO's and ram and more flash.

Arduino support

To use this board with Arduino IDE you need to install my fork of MightyCore from MCUdude. Check this page about installation. You can use original MightyCore from MCUdude, but be aware that pin mapping will be different. I change pin mapping on my boards so advance pin functionality is same as on Arduino boards (UARTS, I2C ... ).

Selecting PB/nonPB version of installed chip

There are 7 jumpers on board

• one 1-pin jumper, marked “DTR”, used to connect cp2102 DTR pin to ATmega reset line over 100nF capacitor for auto-reset feature
• four 3-pins jumpers marked “PA|PB”, solder side of jumper based on MCU installed
• one 3-pins jumper market “3V3|5V” to set IO voltage for the whole board
• two 3-pins jumpers re-marked as “D|X”. These two are used to route hardware pin 7 (PE0) and hardware pin 8(PE1) to main crystal or to IO pins. If external crystal is used as clock source these pins need to be set to "X" if internal oscillator is used these can be set to "D" digital pins D34 and D35 can be used.

Order options:

• PCB - bare PCB
• KIT - PCB + parts, nothing is soldered, chip is not pre-burned with any sort of bootloader. Download assemly plan here.
• Assembled - fully assembled product, tested, chip is preprogramed with optiboot bootloader from MightyCore repository.
