With this small device you can test the individual RAM chips of your Vintage Computer.

It is able to test the two most common types of memories in "old" PCs:

• 4116 : 16kbit (Commodore PET, Apple II, IBM 5150 PC, Atari 400/800, TRS-80 Model I)
• 4532 : 32Kbit (Apple III, Commodore PET, IBM PC 5150)
• 4164 : 64Kbit (Commodore 64, Apple IIe, IBM PC XT, Atari 800XL and 65XE, ZX Spectrum 48K)
• 4264 : 64Kbit (Commodore VIC-20, Atari 800XL, Apple IIc)
• 41256 : 256Kbit (IBM AT, Apple Macintosh Plus, Commodore Amiga 1000, Sharp X68000, Atari ST series)

These memories were very common on computers in the 80s/90s and are now a known source of failures and malfunctions. They are still very easy to find today, but replacing them all can be unprofitable, usually a single faulty chip compromises the operation of the entire PC.

With this small device you can test every single memory chip very easily.

Instructions for use: The use is extremely simple:

• Power the device via the USB socket of the Arduino Nano
• Insert the chip into the ZIF slot (mind the orientation! you can fry your RAM chip otherwise)
• Select the type of memory (from 4164,41256,4532-L,4532-H) by acting on the jumpers on the board.
• Start the test, quick press to select memory type and then hold down the select / start button for 1 sec (long press).

After several cycles the test the result will be displayed, if there is an error the test will stop and the point of the error will be shown. Typical test times are from seconds to a few minutes (be patient!)
