Importance of Charging Cables

The cable you use to charge your device has a HUGE effect on the charging rate. Even if the cable feels thick, you have no ability to measure the size of the wires inside. Many micro usb cables are 28/28 awg and can barely reach a 500ma charge rate. Look for 28/24 gauge USB cables. These are 60% larger and can handle up to 2A easily. If you are experiencing slow charge rates, check the cables first.
