What is Pico Load?

Pico Load is a convenient easy to solder constant current load also known as a DC Electronic Load. It is typically used for testing batteries and power supplies. The digital readout makes setup simple. Simply connect the power supply you wish to test to the banana jack terminals and turn the potentiometer until the display reads the desired current draw.

Just what I needed

I need something to test little switch mode supplies on their pcb before other parts are added, this is ideal for this. I like to think of this as the reverse of a current controlled power supply, you use a current controlled power supply to control how much current is input into a device, you use this to control how much current is output from a device.

This is a great little kit. It is arranged like something your would buy from Heathkit in the 80s. The parts are well packed and professionally organised, the instructions are super clear and it works.

For a few dollars more some standoffs and an acrylic plate based "case" could be added (http://dangerousprototypes.com/docs/Sick_of_Beige_compatible_cases).
