What is BioAmp v1?

BioAmp v1 is an open hardware board that can amplify biological signals and it can be used for sampling bio-potential differences. This board can be used for signals like EEG, ECG, EKG and EMG. You can use the included recorder cable for recording the signal on a pc using audacity OR on mobile using Backyard brain's spike recorder app. The other cable with male headers, which I will call the Tinker cable, you can use it for connecting the board's output to a breadboard for amplification and filtering, OR you can connect it directly to Arduino.

How to use BioAmp v1?

To start using the BioAmp v1 you require a 9v battery (not included in the kit). After doing that you have to connect

• the 9v Battery snap to power input.
• Recorder/Tinker Cabel to the Sensor output
• The Electrode cable to the Sensor input (see the picture included in gallery)

Now, put the gel electrodes on the muscle you want to sense the signal of and use the alligator clips of Electrode Cable to connect the Gel electrodes to the Board, connect the battery. If you have used tinker cable connects the output to a breadboard and create new circuits but if you want to record the signal you can use either your pc or smartphone for that and you require these software.

• Audacity for PC (if you are using Linux you can get it from your distributions software repo)

Why did I made this BioAmp v1?

I made this Board as a cheap alternative to the Backyard brain's spiker box and human interface kit. You can perform everything that the spiker box does, although some projects may require a bit of tinkering (ex. opamp circuit on a breadboard), and that's what makes it more fun because you'll learn a lot about biological signals and electronics.

What makes BioAmp v1 special?

This board works on a single power supply and uses only one integrated circuit (TL074). It produces exceptionally clean output signals (if you are not very close to an AC Appliance Or a wall outlet) which we can use for various projects. BioAmp v1 kit comes with the Tinker cable which my fellow inventor can use to build exciting electronics projects with the BioAmp v1 board.
