Why another T10 bulb?

The Voltlog T10 LED bulb was born out of frustration with the low quality LED bulbs that you can purchase on Aliexpress. Those usually have a nasty blue light tint and they use low quality LEDs with low CRI (color rendering index). They usually feature just a current limiting resistor, meaning the current supplied to the LEDs will vary depending on the supply voltage and they generally run at temperatures in excess of 100°C. This translates into a short life, usually just a few months before the bulbs fail.

Why is the Voltlog T10 bulb better?

The Voltlog T10 LED bulb uses two Cree® J Series® 2835 which features a high CRI of >90 and a temperature color of 4000K. This ensure the light output is nice to your eyes and at the same time the high CRI helps with accurate color reproduction on the surfaces it illuminates.

The overall design of the circuit as well as the PCB of the Voltlog bulb has been optimized for thermal management. The entire board area is filled with copper which is 2oz instead of the standard 1oz and there are thermal vias with the purpose of transferring heat away from the LEDs. When tested in an ambient of 28°C the Voltlog bulb did not exceed 75°C which is well within the safe operating area of the Cree LED.

The two Cree LEDs are driven in constant current moved using dedicated LED driver chip. This means they will get powered with the same current, no matter the supply voltage. Even if somehow the temperature of the bulb rises to unacceptable levels, the LED driver has an over-temperature protection feature which will prevent damage.

Even though the Voltlog LED bulb is more expensive, it is built with high quality components, based on an optimal design which means you won't have to replace these bulbs for years.

Compatibility

This bulb has been designed to be compatible with 12V car systems and it should work inside any standard T10 socket. So far I have tested this in VW MK6, VW Tiguan 2015 Skoda Octavia 2. The bulb does not feature the so called "can bus resistors" for artificially loading the system to make it look like an incandescent bulb is present. Typically the interior lights will not feature bulb monitoring so that is not a problem. However if you try to install the Voltlog bulb in a socket where the car does bulb out monitoring it will throw a bulb out warning.
