What is it?

This is an Arduino UNO compatible shield that provides access to a DHT22 temperature/humidity sensor, light sensor and LED status outputs, with an optional output for a relay. It uses entirely through-hole components.

Why did you make it?

When I wanted to get into the world of PCB design, I started with this shield to test out the capabilities of EAGLE and low volume PCB manufacturing. At the time I had a simple light in my house that I wanted to connect with a relay to make it smarter. This board has that capability.

What makes it special?

This is a very simple layout that anyone can populate with very simple components. It also provides a good way to practice soldering and trimming of leads. Use it to track your house temperature or see how light changes in a room over the day.

What else is needed?

Please note that no other components are included in this sale. For minimum functionality, you'll want to have the following parts:

• standard male headers, ideally longer than standard
• DHT22 temperature and humidity sensor
• 5mm LEDs with the required resistors for 5V input
• photocell for light sensing
• optional relay (best to use the Adafruit Power Switch Tail)
