What is it?

Skysylight is a device that shows your current Skype for Business status by lighting up in different colors using 6 addressable LEDs and an ESP32-S2 microcontroller. With a Python script running on your Windows PC, Skysylight instantly reflects your Skype status through vibrant colors, making it easy for others to see whether you're available, busy, or away. Thanks to its open-source software, you can also customize it for a variety of other uses. With built-in WiFi, Skysylight can be controlled wirelessly, offering a seamless blend of functionality and creativity. The device features a USB-C connector for power and communication as well as UF2 software uploads.

Why did you make it?

I wanted a fun and practical way to visually represent my Skype for Business status at work. By combining the versatility of addressable LEDs with the robust capabilities of the ESP32-S2 microcontroller, Skysylight allows for endless customization. Its open-source nature empowers users to reprogram the device for various other applications, making it a valuable addition to any tech enthusiast’s toolkit.
