What is it?

This is the Weather Station Project's Basic IoT Weather Station which uses an ESP32 - DevKitC or equivalent IoT enabled development platform and a host of other environmental sensors to sense, collect, post and record the data from your backyard and view it in realtime on our website weatherstationproject.com;. The list of sensors includes the Bosch Sensortec BMP280 which has the capability to measure the Ambient Temperature and the Air Pressure of a region with great accuracy and an Aosong DHT11 for measuring the Relative Humidity.

Why did you make it?

Many people face challenges in their field of interest or hobby when they don't have enough resources to solve a problem or overcome an obstacle, and we who have interest in getting into electronics and IoT are no different. This project was initially started to give beginners in the field of Electronics and IoT to have an easy and intuitive entry and have a large collection of active users helping each other out, and hence making a stronger impact on the community as a whole.

What makes it special?

This project was made entirely by students for students (but not limited to students). It is not just a kit but a whole system. Your Weather Station connects to your free account on our website and allows you to view the data from anywhere in the world and share the data with your friends. We allow you to pay for extra functionality but we don't lock you into anything. All you are paying for is the extra server power we have to pay for. If you want extra Functionality without paying all of our code is open source if you want to host your own website and data storage for your Weather Station. The project is also customizable. You can add your own code that allows your weather station to use Bluetooth to connect to your phone.

IMPORTANT NOTE :

Depending where its shipped you might get a different ESP32, please contact us if you want to know the compatibility of the ESP32 you are going to be sent!

There is a small issue with the PCB where the PTH Holes for the ESP32 Dev Board have spread apart a bit too much which doesn't let the ESP32 fit on the board. The Board is completely useable apart from that. I have included Male to Female wires with the kit so you can have the ESP32 separate from the PCB. Due to this mishap, I have also reduced the price of the board by $3. Happy Making!
