What is it?

Unused postage stamp type module with Nordic nRF51822 BLE/Bluetooth chip and integrated antenna. Ready to flash with a Nordic Softdevice type firmware.

Why did you make it?

Excess stock from a previous company acquired when they liquidated the unused components. The project I intended to use this module in didn't happen so...

What makes it special?

Very cheap means to make a bluetooth device. The Nordic processor is the old generation, but is still very capable for basic bluetooth projects, and has great low power operation and multiple IOs.

For firmware you should use the Nordic SoftDevice framework (version 14 or 15) to create your BT code. Some sample code can be supplied.

Update : I saw this project on hackaday : https://github.com/dakhnod/nRF51-GPIO-BLE-Bridge which seems like it should work well on these modules! I haven't had time to try it yet though...

WARNING This is a developer module, it comes with no firmware on it, and you need some embedded developer experience to use it. The module is intended to be used on another PCB ('stamp' footprint) - the first 1000 orders will get free a rectanglar or round breakout PCB that allow the module to be connected to a battery and some IOs.(to be soldered by the buyer). See the photos for examples. Normally you would be adding this module onto a project specific PCB.
