What is it?

This cable that I made plugs into your Sony Walkman and gives you a USB USB Type-C female connector, so that you can use any USB Type-C cable!

I have only tested charging, data transfer, and the USB DAC functionality. (I tested USB DAC using my Walkman NW-A45 outputting audio from Windows over USB to the Walkman).

I have added two 5.1k ohm resistors to this adapter, it really works with USB Type-C - USB Type-C cables, orientation does not matter.

These cables are all around 10cm / 4" long, although one is 14cm / 5.5".

The housing around the USB Type-C connectors I bought were not perfect, so I did use superglue to ensure that the housing is sealed. Due to this, the housing/plastic around the USB Type-C connector is not 100% beautiful as it has some marks/scratches from where I sanded it smooth. It looks fine and works well, this is a cable I made in my spare time ⌚

The WM-PORT connector I'm using does not have 22 pins, and so for that reason I believe that this cable cannot be used to send digital audio from the Walkman to an external DAC.

Why did you make it?

I wanted to reduce the number of cables that I bring along when travelling.

Taking this small adapter with me is great because I can then use the exact same cables and chargers that I use to charge my phone and computer. I also like the fact that I can leave the adapter plugged in to my Walkman when it's on my desk, preventing wear and tear to the WM-PORT on the device, and still plug in/remove USB Type-C cables when needed.
