A Badgelife Lover's Must-Have

For Aerospace Village 5th Anniversary Badge for DC 31

I am excited to have received this badge. I remember when the Aerospace Village was this tiny thing at DEFCON. However, at DC32, it was HUGE!!!! I would be interested to know if this village is the fastest growing village at the con. I am extra happy to work at Lockheed and to have partnered with some of the folks there. Seeing hackers and Skunkworks come together is awesome. We need more of that in the corporate world. Too many times the hacking community and corporations/academia are in vastly different camps when discussing the same thing.

Cute, Functional, and Easy to Solder

For Aerospace Village badge for DC28/29 (DIY kit)

It does not take long to solder the kit. The surface mount LEDs do need slightly more than beginner skills. But patience, a fine conical tip, and some flux get the job done. I've only tried ADS-B, but it works like a charm. I attached it to a HackRF with a PortaPack and can see which plans are flying overhead. Even though it isn't necessary, I find I have to keep the LEDs on when I'm using the antenna. It just seems to work better! j/k
