Good product without support

For I2C MOSFET Trailing Edge AC Dimmer Light

I purchased 3 pieces of these I2C dimmer in order to relieve the ESP32 in esphome - Home Assistant. The boards seem to be well designed and nearly perfectly soldered. During Installation I unfortunately noticed, that there is no support for the dimmer in esphome and a custom component is more or less the only solution to write dimm value into ATmega which finally makes the pwm. On github I found some custom component integration files, perhaps written by Mr. Krida, but they are only designed for the 4 channel I2C dimmer, I tried to adopt these h files without big success as my c-programming skills are about 35 years in the past, but communication works, I always get errors like TimerOne.h not installed or similar (but as far as I know the lib is standard lib in esphome) ... however, I already spent too much time for these boards, so my dream of a pretty I2C bus dimmer solution was burst as the seller offers no support and even can't write an answer e.g. like "I offer no support" or similar, apparently too much customers ;-)

I'm using this board to control power amplifiers from an ESP32. Easy to drive using Arduino code.

Is it possible to determine the state of the relays using a micro controller? The documentation doesn't address this.

Got some of those boards. I use them with Raspberry Pi4 and Python.
Here is a easy code to switch the relays with 16 Buttons with TKInter GUI:

Nice board

For WIFI 8 Channel Electromagnetic Relay Module

Board itself looks well made and works as expected.
Converting to Tasmota took more time than expected, so leaving some tips for others
Somehow Wemos didn't get into flashing mode automatically, so I used serial flasher and had to ground D3 while connecting power, to get into flash mode.
Tasmota does not PCF8574A out of the box, so need to compile your own binary - https://tasmota.github.io/docs/PCF8574/ Issue is that default driver does not support I2C address of 0x27, so need to change xdrv_28_pcf8574.ino for yourself. There are multiple ways this can be achieved, I changed '7' to '8' in line 114 to include 0x27 into scan - https://github.com/arendst/Tasmota/blob/development/tasmota/tasmota_xdrv_driver/xdrv_28_pcf8574.ino#L114
Once you get custom firmware onto the device, use Generic module type, set D1- SCL, D2 - SDA and after a restart, you should get the "Configure PCF8574" page mentioned in the documentation. Had to check the "Invert Ports" checkbox for 'normal' operation.

Excellent price and very well designed

For 8 Channel I2C Solid State Relay Module V2.0

The solid state relays are model Omron G3MB-202P and the board looks very well designed. There are very good clearance distances everywhere where it should be, and there is an elliptical hole under the row of relays (good, also no big risk for being mechanically weakened by this). The ground is not mixed with the high voltage side (which is good). There are no traces under the relays (good). I recommend this product. I gave the documentation 4 stars since there is room for improvement about the information of this board.

One Triac unit not working

For PWM 16A 3500W Triac Leading EDGE Dimmer 50HZ 60HZ

I received the two triacs, one is working properly. The other one is not working. The Triac do not put power on the load. All leds lights properly and in the upper shield is mounted one ESP 32 with led Display is also working fine, but no power at the output.
Please inform how to solve the problem.

Si, ha subido de precio, pero sigue siendo bueno.
Funciona bien con FreeDs (ESP32)como gestor de excedentes en fotovoltaica (autoconsumo), para usarlos en calentar agua caliente sanitaria.
Eso si, hay que buscar información, pues no trae instrucción alguna. Aunque tampoco la placa ESP32, necesaria para el control y que hay que comprarla aparte, trae instrucciones, que se tienen que conseguir de búsquedas en internet de FreeDs, IQAS, etc.
Bueno, al final no es difícil de montar y el control es bueno.

Tested I2C and V2 Variant

For I2C 4CH AC LED Dimmer Module

At first I got modules without I2C. That also worked, but here in the power grid the heart rate is often fluctuating. This made it difficult for me to write the right software. I managed this with a RaspberryPi Pico but with a Micropython code. It worked 99% of the time, but I couldn't adjust the fluctuations very well. This sometimes resulted in a slight flicker.

So I ordered the I2C variant and just tested it. This one works wurnderbar and you don't have to worry about all the timings. Very comfortable. As long as the I2C chip does not lose power, it even keeps the last setting, even with AC voltage drop. I like the product and the quality very much!

Great product with some obvious ommissions

For I2C MOSFET Trailing Edge AC Dimmer Light

This is great. As a dimmer it works flawlessly as far as I can tell. PCB is high quality. Programming it is easy, though you do have to be aware that above a certain duty cycle (like 97%) you have to just clamp it to 100% otherwise the next zero-crossing interrupt can come before the duty timer which causes flickering.

Probably possible to avoid that properly but it isn't worth the effort.

So the ommissions:

1. This has a full microcontroller on it so it seems weird to only use it as an I2C slave. Break out more pins! I am not using it as an I2C slave - I just used one of the two pins that are broken out to connect to a PIR sensor. I also had to remove the pullup but that's fine.

2. The microcontroller is not powered by the mains input, despite the board having a 12V PSU on it. So this means you need to supply another separate 5V PSU. It would be nice if the board just had a 12V-to-5V regulator on it.

Yes that would mean it isn't fully isolated, but in most cases this is surely just going in a sealed box somewhere so it doesn't matter.

Alternatively it could be optional - just provide 5V output pads on one side and 5V input on the other and I will connect them with a wire.

Overall, great product and there's no competition that I could find so buy this one. But with a few tiny changes it could be way better.

Oh also the designer wouldn't send me a schematic for some reason (not sure why, it's easy but time consuming to figure out), but they did at least reply which is nice.

Outstanding

There are very few high power, properly designed, no-corners-cut, dimmers in the market. This is one of them. 50/60 Hz, 1-wire sensor onboard Triac fan control, onboard AC-> DC converter. The board layout is so clear, you don't need documentation. The device works exactly as advertised. I'm using it to control a 1250W heater on a food warmer to provide precise temperature control. Even with 100 mS minimum PWM direct to the heater, the heater is too powerful and leads to overshoot. This Krida leading-edge dimmer takes a PWM input, but allows an infinitely variable power level from 0-100, in Watts, to the heater. NOW we're talking precise temperature control. I'm buying more.

Excellent dimmer pack!

I use this dimmer pack to control radiant heaters in reptile enclosures. The dimmers are hooked into a raspberry pi which is running the control software. These work very well and are reliable (which is important for temp control for animals). I have bought them twice, and will likely be buying more. I wouldn't hesitate to use this module in other projects. Thanks for selling a great product!

Functional device and good enough quality.

For 16 Channel Relay Module WIFI ESP8266 HomeAssistant

The device is of good quality with well-designed and built-in functionalities. What is missing is the ability to easily use unused (except i2c) gpio's of esp8266 module (eg soldering holes or connectors for external devices sach as sensors, etc.). With this simple addition the device would become more usable.
Shipping via LV post to BA is OK but can be cheaper (8 USD).

Pull up resistors for SCL and SDA could be optional. Raspbery Pi is not 5V tolerant and has therefore Pullup resistors on RPI board.
I personaly shall remove both pullup resistors myself.

So, the board appears to work however we wrote a small C++ program to ramp the lights up and down in increments of 1 at 60Hz (same and our power source in the US), thus taking a bit over 3 seconds per period. When driven that way the incandescent connected to it light flickers very noticeably. Since we were matching the power wave I expected it to be very smooth in terms of dimming. What are we doing wrong?

The dimmer works perfectly. All channels can be controlled as expected and regulate cleanly between 0-100%. Something unusual, but quite logical: 100% = light off; 0% = light on. I can absolutely recommend this dimmer. :)

Power output flickers

The power output pulses and flickers a bit regardless of the PWM frequency or DC input used. Not suitable for my application.

EDIT: A replacement was sent but unfortunately it performs the same as the original.
