Setup was quick and easy using the WLED app on Android.

I'm dubious about the barrel connector being able to take the full 12 amps (e.g. Mouser's selection of barrel plug parts tops out at 8A ratings), so I'll be injecting power to the LED strips directly instead (I'll have 1,800 LEDs).

Thank you for your review. Very cool matrix. Six times the size you show in your photo!! Please let us know what like for refresh rate you get with WLED with the 1800 LEDS. In regards to the current rating, the board's copper is rated at 12 amps given a 30C temp rise. Each of the KK-style connectors is rated at 7.5 amps (but if you actually measure the conductor and by calculation it can handle 16 amps). There are four. The fuse is rate at 12 amps. The barrel connector we use is rated at 8 amps but looking to the actual copper the ground conductors can handle 30+ amps and the center pin, 40+ amps (this is the IPC-2152 for short conductors). The limit with these connectors is the ground contact with the plug, difficult to calculate. Since I routinely see 10 amp power supplies with the same barrel connector (https://a.co/d/fc3LVsZ) and have seen 12 amp versions, we decided to test the connector and board. We ran the barrel connector under a 15amp load for an extended period and it was not damaged. We also tested the board loading 2 KK-style connectors through the barrel connector @ 12amps and tested fine.
I would use the 12 amp number as a rule of thumb to size the number of LEDS since rarely are you using 20ma per LED (3 channels full on) and that works out to be 600 LEDS. And I would similarly size your PS according as you never want to draw full amperage rate of a PS. And in your use case 1800 LEDS full on you are looking at 48 amps, so power injection is the only viable option given also any controller board. Great! Does what it says and does it well

For ESP32 Control Board Ver. 2.1

I bought this for managing the fans in my network rack and it does a great job at that. Multiple probes allow for averaging the temperature so you can get a better idea of the overall temperature, and multiple fan ports allow me to both circulate and exhaust.

My only suggestion (and limitation of the board) is that the output could be higher. A lot of the high CFM exhausting fans I was looking at were well over the total limit of the board.

Thanks for the kind review. We surveyed high flow fans and fell upon the Noctua NF-A14 at 160 cfm which pulls 0.60 amps max and have run 8 of those on the board. We would be interested in what fans you are using. For our latest production run of the board we did a revision increasing the current handling and fusing to 12 amps which is only limited by the barrel power connector.
