Sure, you could buy the board, program it, awkwardly carry it around for a little less, but why? This is a great assembled product with a solid 3D printed case which allows access to all of the computers ports and switches, a very good antenna (I got much higher gain than with the stock antenna), and a convenient lanyard. The range is amazing (I am in central Florida and easily pick up the launches from Canaveral and Tampa). This is loads of fun and a great educational conversation starter. Thanks!
