We make open-source hardware for hardware-defined amateur radio. We're not purists, though, and we're not above using digital means to accomplish a few analog objectives. We also love and want to promote home-building, "home-brewing," and amateur engineering in Ham radio. But engineering means *practical* application. Sometimes, the challenge of building an all-analog, all-discrete-component rig is just too much, and using a few ready-made solutions (for VFOs, filters, amplifiers, mixers, etc.) could mean the difference between a working radio and a paperweight.
