Great RF design

For LoRa1262F30 1.5W SX1262 868MHz/915MHz RF Module

I occasionally range test products like this. 45miles range with link budget to spare, based off my numbers - could have gone hundreds of miles with my yagis antennas and these radios.

Excellent module, just mind the pin pitch

These are great little Si4463 modules that break out all the pins you need. Just mind the pin pitch - these are not breadboard friendly. But otherwise they are great and I have had no problems whatsoever with them.

Modules won't communicate properly - cannot be recommended

For SA828-V VHF All-In-One Walkie Talkie Module Kit

Hi, the modules can not be accessed properly from terminal programs (9600-8-1-N). Linux offers cutecom which usually does a perfect job but in this case I do only receive "ERROR" as a module answer as soon as I try to squeeze something in or out. The Windoze tools are completely useless for me, because I banned all that MS rubbish from my PC since decades. Any really good documention available? If not I will trash the stuff ....

Does not fit my breadboard

The mounting holes on the modules do not align with my breadboard. This adds extra work trying to adapt the different sizes.

Good units, but with a bit of runaround.

For Lora1262 SX1262 22dBm low consumption RF Module

The modules work well: I was using these to transmit 20 km at 10mW transmit power (with line of sight, on a quiet frequency). Their power consumption is low enough that I didn't bother to measure it properly, but in my application it is well below 1mA when not transmitting.

The modules lack a marker on top to know whether they have been installed properly. The pins are only marked on the underside; if the module doesn't work after installation there is no visual way to check it wasn't accidentally installed backwards.

The modules are almost pin compatible with RFM95 units, which is handy if you want to play around with a Moteino or some such. The SPI pins match, but I did have to put in some custom wires to hook up the Busy and DIO lines.

I ordered some 433 MHz units. I was quite excited when they arrived less than two weeks later, but disappointed to see that they had shipped 860 MHz units, which were no good to me.

When I contacted customer support, I was advised by Helen that the 433 MHz units use the SX1268 module and do not come with a TCXO. At that time, this was not mentioned in the description (I'm glad to see they have now updated it). I explained that I needed modules with a TCXO, and would not have bought these modules had that been advertised, Helen organised to send me some custom 433MHz modules with TCXOs as a replacement. The replacement modules were shipped quickly and worked as advertised, which I thought was great customer service. However, I was requested to send back the incorrect modules on my own dime, via registered mail. I did not comply with that and sent them first class mail instead (I only ordered 6 modules - at a cost of $30. To return them by registered mail would have cost more than the order!).

I had a technical question about the TCXO modules used in these*. I twice contacted customer support to request the information; the first time I was sent a datasheet which did not include the required information, the second time I did not receive any response.

For 433MHz, I would recommend the Dorji SX1268 modules over these ones; I trialled some of those and have now changed my design to use them rather (sadly they are not pin compatible, but it wasn't too hard to change).

* If using the module in the low power Receive Duty Cycle mode, an important parameter is how long the TCXO takes to stabilise.

Much better range than what I used before

For 433/315MHz ASK Transmitter & Receiver Module Kit

I got these as a replacement for a few of these FS1000A and XLC-RF-5V modules, because whatever I did, the range of the old modules was somewhere between a dozen cm and a meter. I found these modules via some wiki page after doing some research.

I did not test the range out in the open, but these easily covers my room, and almost kind of works when I stand outside, 10m away from my 3rd floor studio. So don't expect miles of ranges with the supplied antennas, but certainly good enough for hobby use.

Shipping took a while of course, but they were properly packaged in bublewrap and anti-static bags.

Documentation is not very extensive, but more than sufficient. What I could not find though, is why there is a second pair of headers for ground and antenna.

What I really like about this receiver is that it has a wide voltage range, so I can run everything from both 3.3V or 5V.

I use it on my car, very good results

For 2PCS 868MHz/915MHz Sucker Antenna (SW868-XP-1M)

I'm using this antenna for testing LoRa sensor devices. I have had the problem that the attenuation for sending indoor is lowering my transmitting distance so I originally used this antenna on my window bank outdoors. It was working very fine.

In the meantime I use it through the magnetic mount on the roof of my car successfully.

Nice little UHF receiver/DTMF decoder & momentary switch

For SA809-Rx Walky Talky Control Remote Switch Module

Using a UHF transmitter, you can remotely have the SA809-RX send from 3.3 volts to 6.0 volts ( up to 4 amps) through a circuit for 3 seconds. You cannot change the momentary pulse from the fixed 3 seconds, nor can you deviate from the voltage range, unless you use the output to drive a relay with a different voltage across it.

You program the DTMF tone sequence that the unit will respond to and the frequency (400—480MHz) via a NiceRF website downloadable Microsoft Windows based program. Using the software, you can also set a timeout value up to 30 minutes where the unit will not respond to the DTMF sequence. The unit is programmed via a standard USB cable. You must use their program to configure the unit. The documentation could be better, but the nice people at NiceRF quickly responded to all of the questions that I emailed to them.

The unit is very compact, sturdy and reliable.
If the functionality meets your requirements, then this is an amazing little unit.
I personally would love it, if the unit could toggle the output high/low via 2 sets of DTMF tones instead of the fixed 3 second pulse.

Splendid devices

For SA828 1W All-in-One Walkie Talkie Module kit

Really great kit - I also bought a couple of the barebones ones as well as this kit to get me rolling. The kit comes with no clues whatsoever but if you visit the nicerf.com website you can download what you need, and that's the only lost star that I had to hunt it down for myself.

This kit contains just about all you need to get running - start by soldering the power and TX/RX to the cable for the USB/UART board, and add the speaker and 100k pot and antenna and that's all you need. Install the USB driver with the device installed, works great on W10, install the free programming software from the nicerf site, and set the COM port. That can take a little experimentation, mine was on COM9, but once I'd found that port it was so simple to programme frequencies.

Board has a tiny PTT and mic onboard, and you can power from a hacked USB power cable/power bank no problem. You can even select the channel (from the supported 16) on the little board with a teensy little hex encoder - so 0 maps to ch1, 9 to ch10, A to ch11, F to ch16. Tested with a Mitex business walkie talkie, works great. Really nice little kit and TINY!

Compact, easy to integrate data modem.

I do like NiceRF --All their products have performed well for me. The 610 is no exception. It's compact (about the size of a BLE, smaller even) making it great for those tight fit/light weight builds. The antenna is your standard coil-wrapped wire and works well; but if you want longer distance, you can wire in a regular antenna.
Documentation is good; support is awesome. (I ding on shipping, just because they don't have a post-delivery, just registered mail increasing the cost; but it's a reasonable amount for over seas, registered mail. -- If there was an 'overall' star rating, it would get the full 5 stars!)

Of all the wireless modules I've tried, I keep coming back to NiceRF. Mainly because they are a real company with real people actually doing real work. The sales reps are helpful and treat small orders like big ones. Real techs are available if you get a techy question that requires them, most of the time the support/sales staff will get you the proper answer.
If you anticipate having to ask questions, it's worth the little extra to get it from NiceRF.
I now use NiceRF exclusively in any wireless project (data & voice).

These are not small, but they are not big either. They are very well made, and have performed very well. They are easy to configure & easy to use (I have only used the TTL versions of both 100 and 500mw versions).
They work well in noisy environments and country settings.
NiceRF customer service is above average...

NiceRF SA828U works well with Raspberry Pi and Direwolf TNC

Initially, I meant to purchased the VHF version, but ended up purchasing the UHF version by mistake.
I'm not using these modules as walkie talkies, but to transmit APRS packets.
The SA828U works as expected when paired with a Raspi, a GPS module and Direwolf SW TNC as a APRS tracker. The VOX and PTT also worked as expected for triggering the transmitter. Great little inexpensive modules for your radio projects. English documentation could be better. Review Image

Product never worked, hard time getting technical support

For 2.4G wireless video & audio module

Shipping to Canada took 1 month and it was never suggested that it would take that long. I would have paid more for shipping if given the option to have it delivered faster.

More importantly when the product arrived it never worked; the receiver powers on properly but the transmitter appears to shut down after a few seconds. I sent a video at the seller's request, showing the problem I was having, and it was determined that more information was needed and that I should Skype with the engineer. There is a 12 hour difference between us so it has been difficult to arrange a time for a Skype meeting and the last 2 times I tried to contact the engineer I didn't get a reply.

I am very disappointed in this experience. I feel like I should have been sent a replacement unit or at least been asked to return the unit for repair. This is poor customer service and a poor introduction to shopping on Tindie.

Not quite as advertised

For 2PCS 1.5W RDA1846S Chip Walkie Talkie Module

These boards are advertised as having "12.5/25 kHz bandwidth selection". This is not true: they appear to be preset for 12.5 kHz, as 5 kHz deviated signal drop out on voice peaks. Additionally, the CTCSS deviation is 1.2 kHz & the total voice+CTCSS deviation is 3.8 kHz. The squelch is too tight even on level 1, & if you program level 0 for squelch & CTCSS decode, the receiver stops working, so it is not possible to use only CTCSS (no noise squelch). Also, when programmed for CTCSS decode, CTCSS is only required to open the squelch. If CTCSS is then removed (such as when the desired station stops transmitting & there is another station without CTCSS still transmitting on the same channel), the receiver stays open. This is improper operation: the receiver CTCSS squelch should close as soon as CTCSS stops being detected.

Great Antenna, does not have a 'sucker'

For 2.4GHz Sucker Antenna SW2400-XP1M

Product arrived in time suggested and the antenna works great. Box was pretty significantly damaged, but it was coming half way across the world and it is pretty difficult to damage the product inside anyway.

It does not however have a sucker on it. There is a small magnet in the base which should not be relied on to attach it to much of anything. Name should be changed.

Plug and play

For SV611 100mW 20dBm Wireless TransceiverModule

It is really easy to setup ( with serial commands or pc program interface)
I just take it out from box and after 5 minutes i was monitoring remote values.
For mac users i advice use ttl usb interface and use Terminal for ch341 program, it doesnt need a driver) you can real time receive and send serial data.
One last note, for setting it you must send commands in hex format( for ex 0xAA etc..) it is not ASCII !!!
I recommend SV611.
