Fast shipping and easy assembly

It came fast! I was shocked how fast it shipped. Assembly was easy. I made my frame from Hickory and put Purple Heart splines. Thanks seller it works perfectly and looks amazing. Will definitely order more. You do have to know how to solder and follow instructions.

It works!

For JF sLOMO (Slow Motion) Frame DIY Kit

I bought this kit with the board/electromagnet pre-assembled, and it took about 3 weeks to arrive in the US. Packaging was nice and everything worked.

Note that even with the pre-assembly, you will need:

* LED strip
* Power supply
* Acrylic glue
* Ikea frame
* Phillips head screwdriver
* Drill with 2mm drill bit
* Sharp scissors or a saw for the spacer

(No soldering needed however)

I bought the 8x10" ribba frame from Ikea; contrary to the instructions, there was no need to cut it down.

The documentation was somewhat confusing and many of the steps were only shown in the Youtube video, so I had to pause it many times to follow along. It took me a while but was fun, and the final result worked amazingly.

Totally worth it: would sLOMO again!

For JF sLOMO (Slow Motion) Frame DIY Kit

I'm so glad that I found this kit: it is the real deal and I am doubtful that I would have pulled it off otherwise.

The parts arrived quickly and safely. If you're debating whether to get the assembled kit... get the assembled kit! It's been tested and is going to work.

I was a little concerned that the 8x10 frame design would be too small, but it's totally perfect for the illusion.

I docked some marks for documetation and communication. Let me explain...

The docs were a solid 3-4 stars. I think that they could benefit from a pass from an editor. I found myself jumping around a lot and watching the video numerous times to put everything in context and work out an order of operations. I am a reasonably confident creator so, like, I could piece it together. What I came away with was the feeling that it was written by someone who is so close to the ground that it is hard to appreciate what someone coming to the project new might have trouble understanding.

I found myself with all sorts of questions about what sort of bonding agent I should use on the acrylic, and what kind of LED light strips I should order.

I gave the Communication two stars because I never heard back any reply to my questions, which I submitted via Tindie. I reserve one star reviews for people who write back and tell me to GFY... soooo, radio silence is better than being called names. Still, if replying to questions is difficult, even better is to assertively copy answers to previously asked questions into the docs so that next time, people have no questions! It sounds crazy but it works.

All in all, this was great fun and my SO loves it.

Excellent Kit

Well documented and well designed. Not too difficult a build. I will have to do some experiments to see if I can dampen the noise a bit more. Foam tape supporting the electromagnet assy helped a bit, but I'd still like it quieter. Performance is good, though I might play with the scaling in SW a bit to get more control over the "slowest" range of the control.

Great seller, works great

Overall good project, would build again. A few things:
- Definitely get the add-on for the acrylic pieces. I built my own piece out of plastic and it took way too long, and looks horrible. Definitely worth the $20 in hindsight.
- I made a stupid mistake (forgot to install the Arduino Nano) and reached out to the seller, who helped almost immediately.
- The thing is cool, works as advertised, but keep in mind it does make a humming sound. The sound gets quieter if you add more stuff/more weight to the vibrating metal pieces, but I don't think I want this thing on 24/7, it would bother me.
- I had some trouble compiling/uploading the code, but got it to work, and I appreciate that the author has "modes" you can switch between using the button.

Great kit!

For JF sLOMO (Slow Motion) Frame DIY Kit

I put the kit together as a gift and the results were very impressive. I opted for the assembled option, so I only needed to glue the acrylic parts together, stick the LEDs on the picture frame, and attach things together. The LED strip I used ended up having wires already attached to both ends, so I didn't even need to solder anything!

The IKEA frames are not available where I live, so I chose the 8x10 Ribba frame option and bought this frame: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07FYQR19J/
The opening in the mat was a bit smaller than the acrylic opening, but it worked out well. The frame is deep enough for two strips of LEDs.

Gluing the acrylic parts was probably the most time consuming step. I tried superglue at first, with poor results, then found out superglue is not recommended for acrylic. I ended up using a plastic glue with primer from the local hardware store, but the real acrylic solvent method shown in the video is probably much better.

It's been a lot of fun seeing how different plants, flowers, and feathers look with the slomo effect. Overall I'm very impressed by the kit, it is a great value for the price.

I was blown away by the level of quality and I would recommend buying the frame kit along with the electromagnet kit (the parts *can* be bought separately but do yourself a favour and just get the kit) and the back frame mount (this is essential imo).

I loved the kit so much that I bought two more to gift :)

Note that you need a 12v 2a DC power adapter to power it and some glue (preferably acrylic cement) to assemble the back frame mount.

Love it! Top Notch & Patient Service

For jolliCube – 8x8x8 LED Cube (SPI) DIY Kit

This was my first LED cube and first purchase from jolliFactory. While I'm a programer, I'm not an engineer & still trying to learn electronics. This project helped my understanding and I leveled up several skills. Nick was *extremely* patient. I may have e-mailed him five or six times, sometimes twice a day, and he always replied by the next day, which was so nice as I was able to complete the project over a holiday break. Other vendors might push such inquiries off to a forum, but Nick answered every one - really unexpectedly top tier. Deserves more than 5 stars! He was very kind to explain things in diagrams, examine photos & videos I sent, and helped me sleuth out any goofs I made when completing 1,000+ soldering connections. The animations are up & running, although I still have a few more things to do - straighten out my wire frame, 3D print a base, and put inside an acrylic cube I bought on Amazon - but I've already ordered my second kit, hoping to do the side-by-side sound equalizer. The two build videos linked in the Instructable were very helpful. It helps to have patience and the time not to rush the build. When done, you'll be rewarded with a very cool display. I'll definitely be trying other products from jolliFactory in the future!

README! (Genrally Amazing!)

For JF sLOMO (Slow Motion) Frame DIY Kit

What you should know before you buy this (assuming you get all the kits).

You will need:
- an Ikea Frame (though now I think an old desk lamp would be soooo much nicer)
- a 1,5mm drill (if there is none for wood, get a metal one and be slow so it doesn't get hot and break)
- an LED strip (just tape 2 single row ones next to each other and connect + and - of both strips anywhere you want. I bought 2m in total an didn't have much to spare. I used this kind: https://i.imgur.com/cDqTKSG.png )
- a 12v power brick with a barrel plug (not share how many amps needed, I went with 1.5A I think)
- glue for acrylic (superglue works, but will look a bit dirty. But the glue won't be very visible anyways. Better: proper acrylic glue)
- a bit of wire (preferably two colors)
- I also had to trim the acrylic, the frame piece was too wide (eye-balled it with a jigsaw and a metal blade, slow and linear setting)

Additional notes on the documentation:
- with the big frame I don't think you have to trim the paper cutout
- you might want to trim the sockets pins flush *before* you solder them. At least on the side where the turn-knobs go. It will get very tight there later.
- be careful with the magnet placement so it fits the slots in the acrylic later (fine tune by bending so it fits, best done before you put the motor in)
- drill the holes for the screw that hold the frame inside off-center (otherwise your screw is not wide enough and will stick out the side of the frame)
- order on the frame is important: drill holes, put cutout, but LEDs (any other order and something might be in the way)

Other notes:
- before screwing it down the magnet assembly it showed a stronger effect
- I definitely want to do some more programming, I bet you can make a few more effects (I want add random jumping instead of just slow-motion)

Feedback to Vendor:
- documentation could be a little bit better (it's mainly 2 videos instead of small steps)
- laser cut didn't quite fit
- definitely there should be a "you will also need" list in the offer, I thought I get all I need and than had to wait for the other stuff I needed to order
- thank you very much for this beautiful kit, I love it

This is a very nice Ledmatrix. I use it as the display in games. You can control this led matrix with I2C too! Which has many advantages compared with driving with Max7219.

Outstanding Cube Kit in all aspects

For jolliCube – 8x8x8 LED Cube (SPI) DIY Kit

This 8x8x8 cube kit is great. Everything about it is excellent. All the parts are packed nicely, individual bags as needed, and nice quality. The control pcb boards are very well done, laid out nicely, high quality, and really simplifies interfacing to all those individual leds. I also got the 8x8 wood jig, which was high quality, well done, and really helped a lot. I also added the nano and the leds, so basically the kit was complete with everything. The leds were good quality, with a nice supply of extras leds to be sure there would be enough in case bad ones were found. All the leds I received worked and were bright, but it was nice not to worry about that since they included the extras.
The instructions are very nice, though it seems daunting when you first start. It is very nice to have both the written instructions to get the basic idea and some details, and then with the videos showing exactly what and how to put it together. Eventually it all becomes understandable and you get a feel for what you are doing, and the result is fantastic. The software for testing and demonstration is very nice, works well, and shows off the cube immediately. The software is also great for showing examples from basic to fancy animations and is great for learning how to program your own animations. It's a lot of soldering and a lot of tiny detail work bending led leads and building each matrix, but the result is amazing. It was my first, so I was slow, checking leds at every step worried I would burn one or break it bending, etc., but never had any problems and the final result was worth the time.
Great communication with JolliFactory. I had problems with the post office on my end and they were very quick to respond to questions and helped resolve the problem, so 5 stars for service.

Excellent experience from start to finish

I bought the sLOMO kit from JF recently, to make as a gift for my partner. I really do think it was very good value. Communication was prompt when I had an (insubstantial) concern about shipping. Shipping from Singapore was in fact reasonably priced and fairly quick- about 10 days.
The thing which struck me must about the kit is how meticulously, neatly, thoughtfully and securely it was packaged. Everything was in separate sealed bags, sized to suit. Everything was labelled. And it was laid out very sensibly so it was easy to tell at a glance that I had everything I needed. Similarly the instructions- an online instructible- shows the same level of care and attention to detail, including videos. This is really appreciated especially when I'm fairly inexperienced in electronics.
The supplied electronics and other pieces were of high quality and the board they designed is super. Everything's gone together without a hitch. I have already recommended JF to others and will be sure to get something from them again.

Works great, a fun project to complete with kids

For JF Time Fountain DIY Kit

I've been fascinated with time fountains since before I had kids, and when I saw this project on instructables I was keen to embark on a build with my kids - and even moreso when I discovered that JF sold the kit on Tindie! I bought the complete kits all components together, even though I have many of the individual parts already.

The good:
- The kit DOES Include the LEDs even though they were not listed in the parts BOM on Tindie.
- The kit has all of the parts you need to build this great time fountain design, and it all works as described.
- The actual postage costs to the seller were way more expensive than what I was charged in the order process.

The bad:
- In addition to electronics equipment (soldering iron and solder) which was obvious, you ALSO need acrylic welding solvent cement - which you are unlikely to actually have unless you have worked with acrylic welding before, and it's not even obvious that this is what was used in the video - all you see is the maker using a syringe and a needle. With some separate investigation I discovered and bought a couple of tubes of Sci Grip #16 Fast set which should do the job (I haven't completed the case yet). You may be able to substitute with CA, but it may not be strong enough to hold together reliably.
- The frame pieces are not pre-drilled - while this is pointed out on the website, it would be nice to have these pieces laser cut as well to assist in getting a really clean finish. These 'saw cut' pieces have rough edges that need to be flame polished / sanded to look their best (and you can't flame polish something that will be bonded with the acrylic solvent cement so it may get a bit fiddly).
- I had a lot of issues getting the pump to work initially, and in the end I think this was probably caused by lack of priming (but it could be other issues). I pulled everything apart - including the pump - and still couldn't get it to work, until I jabbed a wooden skewer into the impeller and pushed it to get it going. I would suggest that you should probably initially run the pump without the solenoid valve connected as this adds a lot of resistance to the water flow. If it is a priming issue, then this could have been addressed very simply by having the startup sequence of the arduino run with the solenoid 'open' for a few seconds at the beginning, rather than going straight into pulsing mode. If it's not a priming issue - then my pump has some sort of other problem that will probably come back to cause more issues for me later on.

All in all this is still a great kit and does what it says - it was fun to put together, and while they were too young to really help in assembly, my 4yo and 2yo were totally amazed by the test results (and have been telling their friends that they built a time machine with daddy! Hopefully once I can finish it off (I need to print out the drill templates and set up the dremel with the bench press attachment next weekend to complete it - a reasonable sized job in itself), the pump issues won't come back to haunt me with the finished machine.

PCB Base is missing in order

I was order 2 sets but i have recieved this except pcb board. You have show pcb board in pics but did not deliver it. Its froud and i will take legal action against you fraud website.

Very good diy kit

Kit comes with all the item listed. You will need to purchase led strip, power source and arduino source separately. Also make sure you have enough wires. Wish the kit comes with a detailed soldering instruction. I soldered the board by referring to the pictures online, which wasn't clear enough, but eventually I have managed to make the whole board.
Also in US, it seems difficult to find the exact frame size that would fit everything perfectly.

Beautiful kit

Beautiful kit, well packaged, very simple, and easy to put together. So simple, no diagrams are needed to assemble it,
placement for all the parts is silk screened on the board. I was pleasantly surprised upon receiving my kits--contrary
to the claim of the ad from which I placed my order, the two required MAX7219 chips (for each kit) were indeed included,
and I was able to immediately use my boards. Please continue to include necessary chips in kits! All in all, a very good kit,
and a pleasant experience. I'll be looking at your other products.
