The future of inertial measurement

For MAX32660 Motion Co-Processor

Having bought nearly every IMU breakout made by Pesky Products, and developed mainly on the Pesky USFS, I plan to use the incredible USFSMAX for all IMU-based projects from now on. Greg Tomasch's extensive testing of the USFSMAX, combined with his example sketches on github, make this device a clear winner. To make the USFSMAX easier for others to use, I've forked Greg's github repository and revised his code to conform to the Arduino library format:

Incredible hardware, code and docs to get it running!

For Ultimate Sensor Fusion Solution - LSM6DSM + LIS2MD

A couple years ago, I wanted to put something together like this, but I knew it was a daunting task. I didn't have the time to work on it, but I sure am glad that others have. You guys hit this one out of the ball park.

When I first got it wired up on the breadboard, I would only get one set of readings (repeated over and over), then I discovered I left off the interrupt wire. After I got that sorted out and my Teensy 3.5 started seeing updates, it was just a matter of following the extensive documents that you put together to calibrate the sensors.

The only issue I have now is I seem to have done something to stop the Teensy 3.5 from communicating with the Ultimate Sensor Fusion Solution board. I had everything working fine on the breadboard, but once I moved the parts to a perf board and soldered the connections, I get an acknowledgement from I2C address 0x28, but the Sentral Status is 255 which is not documented in the EM7180 datasheet. I'm questioning the I2C communication as being the problem, but I'm not sure. Perhaps I need external pullups, but it somehow worked on the breadboard without them? Any suggestions would be appreciated. I'm ordering another Ultimate Sensor Fusion board for another project and I'm hoping I can get the first ones running again as they are flat out awesome in one small cost effective package!

I'm back up and running. I found about 6 lines of I2Cdev.cpp that got deleted (my 2 year old loves pushing buttons when I'm not looking, or perhaps I have fat fingers!). I also rebooted everything, and with the file fixed, it sprang back to life. I was so sad thinking I broke the board already. Thanks for your offer to help. You guys are the best!

I can only guess that there is something wrong with the connections between the USFS and the Teensy. If you are able to read the I2C address of the EM7180 then it is unlikely I2C is the problem (there are pullups on the USFS board). Worked as advertised

For ICS43434 I2S Digital Microphone

These are great microphones, give very nice output. I used them with raspberry pi. I was originally using the Adafruit breakout board with the knowers microphone, but the output had a erroneous DC offset and the envelope was non-symmetrical, these are much better microphones.

Great experience, awesome support

For STBC08 High-Current LiPo Battery Charger

I'll be honest and say that I only just got the charger hooked up to my Teensy LC tonight, so I can't say much about how well it works yet, but I can tell you this guy's support blows everything I've ever seen out of the water. My order got here earlier than expected. I emailed him with questions a few times, and every time I had a question he answered within 15 minutes (which I would never hold anyone to). Above and beyond and very professional.
There is complete documentation on the charger, but some of it is on the page for the earlier version of the charger. There is a link on the page to it.
In case anyone else runs into the issue I had of the red and yellow lights being on but the Teensy not responding to anything, check to be sure you don't have the battery connection backwards. :D
It's pretty exciting to see my Teensy sitting there blinking without being plugged in to anything! Would 100% recommend. I'll definitely be back, and will probably try out a few of the other cool things he has for sale.

Yes, we have made an attempt to gather the latest complete sketches for a variety of popular MCUs on github (https://github.com/gregtomasch/EM7180_SENtral_Calibration) to avoid some of the confusion resulting from the years of development. And, of course, there is the wiki (https://github.com/kriswiner/EM7180_SENtral_sensor_hub/wiki) which we try to keep updated. But yes, these are not in one place so the user will have to bear with some "disorganization".

I got my board, and took Simon's Raspberry pi python interface (https://github.com/simondlevy/EM7180) and ported it to MicroPython (which took about ten minutes and five lines of code changed). It worked flawlessly first time, and I look forward to using it in my autonomous drone.

I used the Grid-Eye in an AI art installation - soldered it to a Trinket m0, then used Adafruit's Arduino Grid-Eye lib, setting AMG88xx_ADDRESS to 0x68. Works perfectly!

Excellent sensor fusion system

Worked perfectly as described. One hiccup was lack of a non-arduino (e.g. Raspberry Pi) driver, but by the time I got these in the mail one had been started (https://github.com/simondlevy/EM7180) and with a few mods (to be shared back) I have the warm-start functionality and a few other things enabled to work with wiringPi (for an RPi) and standard linux I2C code (for an NVidia TX1).

This product works perfectly giving reliable angles in degrees straight out of the box. I’m using it with a teensy 3.5 and it is being implemented on a underwater ROV, the documents kris has put together for this are outstanding and well commented allowing me to make modifications to his original code where necessary. I’m also using the warm start features kris put together which is very handy. I highly recommend this product for anyone needing orientation information on their project. Additionally, I tried SparkFun’s 9250 board and got it to work- sort of, no amount of calibration or tweaking could get it as stable or accurate as this solution

A review well deserved!

For BQ25504 Solar Cell LiPo Charger

Bought two pre-assembled and a few other ones via OSHpark since I was having trouble with my own design and wanted to proof it.
They worked just fine out of the box and I assembled a few on my own to check my soldering process. They worked as well so all is good!

Sent an email to Pesky Products and got a reply back with the solution to my problem within a few hours. Try to beat that!

A no-brainer should you need mW solar power for your projects!

Clean, simple and small... Exactly what it needed to be!

For Wearable BNO055 Nano Board

Bought 10 of these so we could easily hand-solder for a prototype wearable. This product was a bit of a saving grace for getting our board-size down without having to deal with the fine-pitch at this early stage. Communication with the seller was awesome also. My only feedback is that it would have been great to have the XOUT32/XIN32 pins broken out to the two spare pin spaces the board has! That way an external xtal can be used if wanted. Thanks!

Excellent product and documentation

For Ultimate Sensor Fusion Solution - MPU9250

It really is 'ultimate'. The User Guide/Wiki has lots of great crucial and also beneficial/context information. Kris Winer has created multiple great arduino/teensy programs. My teensy 3.5 worked on first try and is updating at a staggering 4300Hz, that is some incredible update rate.

Shipping was really fast (to europe) and the receipt even included a hand-written thanks note. This brought a smile to my face (I was very surprised) and the first impression lasted.

An issue/question raised in one github repo by Kris with old code to read from an MPU6050 was swiftly answered, which makes me optimistic about solving issues and evolving the library in the future.

One thing I could criticize: the software presented on github could be dramatically improved with very little work: use some code formatter, even the one integrated in the arduino IDE. There is also plenty of trailing whitespace.

Highly satisfied with results and service

For Ultimate Sensor Fusion Solution - MPU9250

Tried GY-80 board then shifted to MPU9250 but was not able to achieve a decent accuracy as i was using ESP82XX. I came across this USFS and could not be more happy with the results. Providing clients with written documentation and extensive practical code backed by responsive technical support is what set this company apart from others.

Great little ultra low power sensor

For CaliPile™ TPiS1S1385 Presence and Motion Detector

Very happy with the TPiS1S1385 break out board, and while the sensor is fairly complex, the provided code got me over most of the difficulties. Tried it out on the Particle Photon, Arduino UNO, and LowPowerLabs Moteino - all worked well with only small changes to the code. Thanks!

I have both the Adafruit SPH0645LM4H breakout and the ICS43434 version of this board. This one performs much better, the difference in noise level is very noticeable.

Great CCS811 board, with a BME280 included.

For Air Quality Sensors

This is a great little board that can be used to evaluate the CCS811 at a fraction of the cost of the official development board.
The addition of a BME280 is a bonus and is used to enhance the accuracy of the CCS811 as well as providing useful environmental information.
There is excellent software support in the form of well-written code on github.
The BME280 temperature values read slightly higher than ambient, this is mentioned in note 9 in section 1.7 of the BME280 data sheet. There are plenty of low cost I2C temperature sensors that can be used if this is an issue and in no way detracts from this excellent board.

Like the esp8285 board, great and small

For Smallest ESP32 Development Board

Bought it to run micopython and had trouble with the default build but that was easily fixed by creating my own build and setting fm to dout (default is dio and will cause rapid rebooting on this board). Happily running a very tiny crazy fast board :).

Another great thing about this board - easy to carry around and plug into my phone with a micro to micro otg cable. Wifi AP and webserver anywhere! ....or just play around in the REPL.

Great Part, Great Seller

For Grid-Eye 8 x 8 IR Array

This part may seem a bit expensive, unless you're familiar with where the state of the field of thermal imagers, etc... are at...from that angle, this is a good price and a very nice breakout. The example code provided by seller was useful, although I found it too specific for my need (uses an additional less-standard i2C library and external screen for full functionality. It is a good starting point, so points for the seller for providing it!), so I rewrote/generalized it into what should be a more widely-supported format library (attached here in case anyone needs it: https://github.com/jodalyst/AMG8833). Shipping was ridiculously fast. Great seller who is filling a useful niche enabling users to quickly prototype with recent parts available on Digikey but without the hassle of having to kludge/fab a breakout board yourself.

Another great little breakout board

For TCA9548A I2C Multiplexer

I have to manage a bundle of the same sensors in my wearable project. Having the smallest possible breakout of any chip for prototyping is key to success.

Pesky is again saving my day with this multiplexer breakout which helps me to shave off some volume of my electronics.

This little guy took me no time to set up and let it handle my 6 sensors. Was really Easy Pesky to set it up ;)

Right now the multiplexer is sold out but I hope it will be available soon. Need another couple to them very soon.
