A fantastic way to experience the past in the modern day
For WiFi Retromodem for Hayes Smartmodem
After seeing this at a show and hearing how others are happy with their earlier versions of it, I decided to pick one up. I have a few other serial connected modems, but usually they are tiny, fragile, and caseless. I ended up getting one of these to try to both have a protected reliable emulated external modem that I'm not afraid of breaking, and to get that full experience of the lights and sounds of a real modem. It definitely delivers on that too. When you "dial up" a service, it makes fantastic dialing sounds and blinks the lights up front giving you that fantastic whole experience. Installation was straightforward and easy. No permanent mods needed so you can return the modem to stock if you want. It was very easy to get set up and going and I have used it a lot since building it to telnet into BBS's and other services that are out there. This is now my main go-to for an external modem.
