Solid graphics terminal for RC2014

For TMSEMU3 graphics card designed for RC2014

I installed this card on my RC2014 Pro system, yesterday, and have been impressed with the rock-solid display, tried using a couple of different display modes with success and I’m impressed!

The design and build quality of the module is at the high-end and is worth every penny. In addition, the software resources that are available provide an excellent insight into software development for this module.

I’d recommend this module to anyone that wants to get the best possible terminal display for their RC2014 and for the potential for enhanced, colour output. Also, if you’re thinking of getting into colour development for CP/M, or reconfiguring your RC2014 so as to enjoy the world MSX, here’s the module for you.

Thanks to Shiela Dixon for this worthy edition to the RC2014 ‘family’ and for the truly stellar delivery.

Excellent solution to both serial terminal and graphics

For TMSEMU3 graphics card designed for RC2014

This is a great addition to RCBus systems. I highly recommend it.

The module provides an 80 column serial terminal as well as a colour graphics mode. For me, the combination of serial terminal and graphics on one module, using one monitor for both display functions, is what makes this module so much better than the single function terminal modules and graphics modules currently available.

Using this module allows the RCBus system to be used without a modern computer acting as a terminal. Just connect a standard HDMI monitor and USB keyboard for a stand alone RCBus computer.

I've used the module with both Z80 (7.3728 MHz) and Z180 systems (18.432 MHz but with wait states enabled for graphics mode), several different wireless USB keyboards and a large HDMI monitor. All worked well.

This build is very clean and has clearly been tested for usability with different boards and potential use cases. My memory of the potential shorting that many early Pi hats had (touching the metal housing below) was even addressed! I appreciate the design considerations, and I look forward to the next purchase of one of your designs.

What can I say?! A VDP for the RC2014 !!

For TMS9918A video module designed for RC2014

The TMS9918A VDP is one of the legendary video processors of its time, now available for your RC2014 - if you are looking for a graphics card, this module may be the right choice for you!

The module comes pre-assembled, so one can immediately set it up and use it. There are some demo applications and even RC2014 ports of two legendary ZX81 games for you to try out in the code repo, adding up to the user experience.

RomWBW users may enable TMS9918 support before building a custom RomWBW image and can then use the module for console *output* only, while keyboard input is then still provided via serial console and a terminal program, just as you would usually do. This also works with Z180 based machines.

The quality of the module (PCB and overall build) is perfect and the TMS9918A chip works flawlessly. Shipping from UK to EU mainland was quick (6 days) which was also very nice.

I can recommend this module to anyone who wants to add graphics capabilities to their RC2014.
