Amazing lo-fi drone with unexpected effects
For Drone Boy
I love the fact that the different capacitors provided allow the user to experiment. I found that using one low pitched oscillator and 2 LFO rate capacitors makes for quite an interesting rhythmic effect.
While pushing this thing to the limits I may have found an undocumented feature. If you set the gain just right, you can get a sweet spot (what I'm calling "ultra mode"). It sounds quite distorted (and there's a small range of distortion to play with), and if you set it *just* right, this distortion can be seemingly modulated by touching the ground connection (in my case, the metal chassis of my attached speaker). This makes for an interesting "live performance" playability to the instrument that's not just turning the knobs. I suspect that playing around with voltage sag on this might also yield some interesting effects (and perhaps add a level of CV like control, if you can systematically affect the voltage sag)
Thank you Sid Rockett for making this thing and at such an affordable price. I look forward to trying out some of the other products soon
Edit: you can also use the LFO rate pulses as a trigger for drum synths like Bastle Kastle
