Studio 449 designed the display as a replacement for a nixie tube, but the design does things that nixies couldn't. It is a simple, well-documented design so it is quick and easy to create some beautiful results. As with most displays with higher current demands, care must be taken to ensure that power and data lines are stable. The LEDs are bright, so depending on the design, a diffuser/filter may be needed.

For High-resolution LED bargraph

I've bought this product to make vu-meter for my diy amplifiers instead of using IN-13 tubes. In real the rendering is so nice and I love the orange color effect. It is quite easy to handle with an arduino.

If you have to control several strings, you can put in parallel the SCK, SDI and OE pins (OE can be separated if prefered). Then you just have to toggle LE pins separetely (as a chip select) in order to refesh the string concerned by the new datas.

Take care about the power supply voltage. After discussing with designer, it seems that the requirement is between 3V3 and 5V5 because it is shared with LED and control chip.
