Great product

For UPduino v3.1 low cost Lattice iCE40 FPGA board

Great development board for beginners, I had great time playing with it using apio as the toolchain.
Recommended for people starting with FPGA, preferably those who have a little experience with microcontrollers.

Very affordable board to experiment with the Lattice Ice 40

For UPduino v3.1 low cost Lattice iCE40 FPGA board

I was looking for an inexpensive board to experiment with the Lattice ICE40 FPGA and the open source icebreaker tools.
This is an excellent board with many options and access to most of the FPGA pins.
Instant success using the blinky examples on the web and then no issues going way off the tracks with some of my own logic designs.

Excellent communication when I suggested an improvement to a limitation I found (that most others will probably not hit).

I strongly suggest this board for anyone who wants to learn about and experiment with small inexpensive FPGA's.

Doc is never enough !
It lacks some full projects with main IDEs softwares....
Otherwise very nice piece of hardware.

Great board for the Lattice ice405K in the 48 pin package!

Board works great and Venkat is very helpful. Would like to see a board in the 30 pin package even though that's less I/O - but the 48 pin package is fine for those needing more I/O.

Easy to Use With a Capable FPGA

For UPduino v3.1 low cost Lattice iCE40 FPGA board

Easy to program by connecting to your computer via a USB cable. Works with many design/programming tools. I used for controlling 56 tri-color LED in one project. I will be using it for my next project too. Highly recommended!

Very nice iCE40UP5K breakout board

For UPduino v3.1 low cost Lattice iCE40 FPGA board

I think this is a great little low-cost FGPA board that is fully supported by the excellent open source FPGA toolchain (pre-built versions for Linux, MacOS and Windows can be downloaded from https://github.com/open-tool-forge/fpga-toolchain). It is quite easy to use with the supported FTDI programming hardware built in (and this can also be used in your designs as a UART or an SPI peripheral from PC). I believe this makes for a pretty good board to get started with FPGAs for someone who is comfortable with breadboard electronics, but also with enough "headroom" to run interesting designs once you master "LED blinking" (e.g., RISC-V SoC, retro computers and consoles etc.). I have found there are quite a few interesting open iCE40 designs that are available on GitHub and elsewhere that are fairly straightforward to adapt to his board (mostly changing the pin definition file and adding any needed peripherals to your breadboard). Also having the easy to use embedded iCE40UP5K 128KB SPRAM memory (with no complicated memory controller required) and 8 DSP blocks (for fast multiplication) make for really nice features over other non-UP5K iCE40 boards. The board also has lots of hardware options, with jumpers and test-points which make the board very versatile and adaptable for a variety of uses.
This 3.0 design is significantly improved over previous versions (see my write-up here https://hackaday.io/page/8864-upduino-30-third-time-appears-to-be-the-charm).

Nice board at a great price but get the V3.0

For UPduino v2.1: low cost FPGA board

I was evaluating this board to use in a class I am teaching on digital electronics. This board is built around the Lattice UltraPlus ICE40UP5K. It runs on USB power or a 5V and outputs 3.3V for external circuitry. The only on board I/O is a RGB LED. It uses a standard micro-USB cable. Headers are included but must be soldered in by the purchaser. It is supported by the Lattice iCEcube2 development environment, the open source iceStorm tools and the easy to use iceStudio visual development environment. It is an earlier revision of the UPduino 3.0 board. Electrically it is identical to the 3V.0; however, fewer pins are available to the user. This should not be a problem in terms of I/O (in my application), but to run it on external +5V (rather than USB) requires connecting to pins which are not available on a solderless breadboard. The cost is slightly lower at $19, but I prefer the v3.0 for the easier power connections since the 3,0 version has the 5V on pins that plug into the solderless breadboard.

Great low cost FPGA board for beginner

For UPduino v2.1: low cost FPGA board

I've wanted to learn FPGA for a while. Found this nice little low cost board and bought one. Board arrived with a bright RGB flasher already programmed so you know it's working right away. Got some hiccup with the flashing the bit file at first. I flashed some bad stuff into the FPGA board, and it appeared dead later. I contacted seller and received quick responses with helpful suggestions right away. It turned out my USB cable was dropping too much voltage and caused problem. Replacing the USB cable solved my problem. Was able to use iCEStorm tool chain for some blinky and serial port demo. All worked well. Now I can spend time learning more about FPGA. Will definitely buy again. It's much cheaper buying this than fabricating this board myself.

Product good quality, fast shipping, documents decent

For UPduino v2.1: low cost FPGA board

The board arrived in a small bubblewrap envelope in pristine condition. Seller shipped the item very fast after I ordered. Shipping price was great and even if it was low priority mail it reached me before Xmas in the craziest shipping month of the year. The board looks good, assembly and finish are very good. There is some decent documentation with the board from the maker, but you can easily find alot of information if you do some searching. I have only had it in my hands for 24hrs. so I can not comment much on using it but I have done some blinkies and such so I think that's a good start.
