Hi, I’m Matteo (a.k.a. TOMA Systems).
I was born in 1992 and I built my very first guitar pedal in 2013, at that time I was an electronic engineering student, at the university of Parma (Italy), and I was playing bass guitar in a local band.
My first Atari Punk Console had been the non-returning point that introduced me to the universe of synthesizers. From that moment I become more and more curious about oscillators and sequencers, so in 2016 I built my own Baby-8 with an integrated IC8038 based VCO. The sound was pretty rough but hey, it was working!
In the meantime I finally graduated and I started a job for a company, based in Reggio Emilia, so I began investing more time (and money) in my home laboratory in which I started develop, create and test other circuits.
During 2017 I built my first Eurorack modular system, composed by an LFO, a drone, a basic mixer and a tiny output stage (mainly intended for lineout and phones) with integrated VCA. In this year I also built a compact synth for a friend of mine, who asked me a copy of my previous synth (Baby-8 plus IC8038).
In 2018 I worked upon more modules and, at the same time, I started to evolve “stable” designs from perfboard to more robust PCB. I even bought a CNC router to cut aluminum panels, wood for enclosures and PCB prototyping; that brought me toward the idea of mass produce my own modules.
In 2019 I started selling few products on Tindie, facing a new challenge: to keep under control everything involved in the production process, from the PCB manufacture to the shipment.
So, here we are: me trying to sell not so crappy circuits on the Internet.
