Lots of random numbers!

For TrueRNGpro

The device came in a box on time. I would give the product 5 stars, but it didn't come with a USB cable to hook it up to my computer, so I had to dig one out from my box of cables. That minor inconvenience cost the product a single star. It is fickle on my part, I admit, but it's what it is. This is how we rate things nowadays.
The numbers come out really random once you setup the right dll on your machine and use a program to read from the com port. I found some code in C# on a random forum and it does the trick. It takes a little leg work to get your first batch of randomness, but once you have it, wow. It's really random. The good stuff. You can use it however you like. Think of the possibilities! I liked the whole process of the transaction.

Awesome version of a classic!

For Atari Punkr Kit

This Atari Punk Console (henceforth, "APC") is a stellar version of a classic design.

I was first interested in the APC via someone else's DIY kit. Upon digging further, I came across yet *another* different kit featuring more control options (touch-pads; photo-resistors). And again, my internet rabbit-hole went deeper, until I found the Ubld.it Atari Punkr Console kit. This was exactly what I'd been after: an APC of fine design, with incredible timing options!

Caveat time: The kit came with no instructions, instead directing to an online how-to with a handful of typos. [Note to UBld: I'll GLADLY proofread your guides, in exchange for kits. I'm a cheap partner!] However, once I'd gone over the parts list and how-to, everything was sorted and completed quickly.

On to the finished unit: It rules! My intention is to use this APC with a sampler. Even without said device, this APC is crazy-fun and definitely worth the price.

In closing: If you're new to DIY synth kits, APCs, or just soldering parts together for fun...the UBld Atari Punkr is (upon completion) an incredible device with myriad sounds at its disposal. You won't be disappointed!!

board delivers, but misses some finishing user features

For MIDI Breakout Board EZ

The board provides the required interface but leaves off just short of a "full" product. The component designations of the resistors are covered by the parts. Seeing how there is plenty of room on the board, the designators (R1, R2, D1, ...) should be put somewhere you can see them when the parts are installed. Sometimes you're working in a 3.3V system and the resistor values for that environment (47 ohm) for the series resistors on the MIDI output would be a nice-to-have. I don't know that this could hurt performance, but there is a pull down resistor sometimes used in circuits for the provided opt-isolator pulling down that unused pin; I added a 10K pull down to pin that for good measure. Some of the resistors, with a fairly sharp bend in the leads, don't fit easily into the PCB. Again, with room on the board, the spacing should be ample for the insertion of the parts and not cramped for no reason.

Fun item to build and use

For Atari Punkr Kit

I bought this kit for two reasons. The first was because I had recently read about the Atari Punk Console. It seemed like an interesting concept that I wanted to play around with. The second reason for the purchase was wanting some experience with soldering and assembly. I can say this was a great entry point with the documentation that was provided. Overall, I'm extremely satisfied with my purchase. There was also an issue where the USPS had temporarily lost the package. It showed as delivered, but was nowhere to be found. I contacted the seller and was responded to right away with suggestions. After notifying the USPS, the package made it to me. I would definitely considering buying from this seller again!
