The combination of an ATmega328 and 16x2 LCD display is very common, but this Tinkers Projects design is very nice. The layout and construction eliminate most of the wiring between the micro and the display. The design is flexible -- i/o pins are accessible so that many combinations of input, output, and storage are possible. The Arduino library is easily modified for other uses. The designer's projects demonstrate the range of possibilities. The build quality is very good and proves to be suitable for real-world use.
