I remember vividly that summer day when I first saw the RC glider in the air. I was 9 years old hiking with my family in Austrian Alps at the Gerlitzen when we stopped in awe and watched the RC pilots launching their colorful gliders off the mountain. The fresh air, spectacular views and fascinating aircrafts made this moment unforgettable. I was hooked!

For the next 20+ years I’ve flown different types of RC model aircrafts – gliders, aerobatic, sport, helicopters, gasoline, electric… you name it – but I’d always come back to gliders.

As a mechatronics engineer, I enjoy tinkering, building stuff and dreamt of having my own workshop. I moved to the Bay Area, California in 2014 from Germany. The abundance of flying spots and a thriving RC community makes this an incredible place to live. I also met my now wife here and the workshop dream has become a reality.

Together, we have started WindyHillHobbies with the idea that gliders can be durable, high performance and yet compact, so you can easily disassemble them, put it in your backpack and fly anywhere you’d like on your next hiking adventure.

The idea that you can enhance your workshop with CNC Machines that make developing RC foam planes easy – cut precisely and quickly as designed by you. No more manual cutting and subpar results.

We invite you on the journey to the outdoors, spending time outside in the fresh air, disconnecting from the day-to-day worries. Being part of the RC community and sharing your designs, builds and ideas – that’s what WindyHillHobbies is about!
