After researching numerous MIDI to CV options, this kit seemed too good to be true. At about $30 USD, this was an obvious choice, although I was a bit nervous since I've never owned a MIDI to CV converter. Not to worry, though, the kit was easy to assemble (less than an hour to assemble, YMMV), and the hardest part was just carefully reading the documentation to understand how it operated (since I am a newbie to modular synths).

It was brilliant to have the board send a different voltage to each CV output, which made it easy for me to debug any errors in attaching the CV socket boards to the CV12. If you are using the product as it was intended, this would be a very quick job to finish. However, since the board had a nice modular design, I took the Port B outputs to an aux board (TOTALLY UNSUPPORTED configuration, BTW) to offset the signal by -5Vdc to accommodate the Moog Mavis. And it worked! It took several OpAmps and a charge pump for inverting the power, but it was a great learning experience and the CV12 was very resilient.

Amazing value that adds great functionality for MIDI to CV

For Sockets Kit for CV-12 / Octex MIDI CV Converters

With three socket kits, I could add 18 outputs to the CV12 kit from MIDImuso. Easy to assemble, and the price is GREAT for getting exactly what I needed. I put each board together in 10 minutes, but YMMV depending on how experienced you are at soldering kits. The only confusing parts was the silkscreening, which seemed to indicate the sockets should be installed 180 degrees from how they actually fit on the board, and the documentation was sketchy. There's only one way to install the sockets, so that wasn't a problem. But someone might question which way the sockets should face.

Easy build, some minor concerns

For MIDI to CV Converter Kit Midimuso CV12

I bought a full kit for CV12. It arrived safely in a padded envelope.
All required components were provided. I did substitute 1/8 watt resistors for the included 1/4 watt parts at 100k ohms as the board was laid out for the smaller parts. Build documentation is clear. Have not tested the result.

Great product -- fills a definite need, economically

For MIDI to CV Converter Kit Midimuso CV12

This was a fun project to build, and the CV12 chip definitely fills a need: converting MIDI to CV/gate, inexpensively and with a lot of flexibility. I built this and three of the sockets kits (for under $100) into an old NES cartridge case and that will fit my needs for a long time to come. Some simplified step-by-step-by-step building instructions would have helped me (as I'm a novice, for the most part), but I was able to figure things out using the photos and diagrams without any issues (so you probably can, too! :) ).
