Beautifully made, nicer than standard playing cards. Clear imagery and just the right amount of explanation of each circuit. Pull out the deck from time to time and (I hope) these circuits will become good friends, easy to spot as blocks in larger circuits.

Great for technical interview practice

I've had technical interviews for electrical engineering at a bunch of places and all of them asked about at least one circuit that was on these cards. If you haven't ever gone over stuff like switching power supplies in class, you're still going to get asked. You can keep these cards in your backpack and flip through them whenever you've got a chance. The cards and box are well made and feel about the same as Bicycle cards, maybe a little more rigid. I haven't figured out any real games to play with them yet, but I'm sure my friends and I will come up with something.

Essential tool for small series PCB prototyping

What a surprise! The Zach's stencil alignment fixture I was dreaming to build is already made!
Very nice build, the pins are slightly on the loose side at 2,39/2,40 mm, but I don't think this will be an issue.

Easy soldering

Very easy to put together, for some reason, I used long time to find the docs (even thought there is an big button for documentation on the productpage, doh..)
It should maybe be mentioned that R1 is not used, I was afraid that I had riped it off (used locking tweezers to hold the button when soldering)
Cant say much about programmability, not quite found out of the remote yet.

I'm glad this came out when it did, because i was just about to design my own and this hits all the features I need. Easy to assemble, well-written instructions, and I love how bulletproof it is. I've immediately put it to use load testing power supplies on my projects!

Re:Load (0-1A configuration) review

Kit arrived yesterday, built last night, calibrated and working today. No issues whatsoever.
Would note that it could do with some additional mounting holes so it can be mounted securely in a box, but I don't think it will cause too much of a problem.
Also intending to add a digital panel meter (several suitable available on Ebay) which will give me a very useful 0-1A digital load for an incredibly low price.

Works as advertised

For Re:load 2

This isn't a terribly complicated kit, but it does what it's supposed to, and it does it well. That's exactly what I wanted from a dummy load, and it delivers.

I've been using it only for a few days, but it's already helped me identify and resolve an issue. A regulator wasn't performing well under peak loads (which I could simulate in a more steady way with the load). I added some extra output capacitance, and the load let me verify that it did indeed keep better regulation after the fix.

Well worth the money, and highly recommended.

Received my kit today and built it up quite fast. It works as expected and although I tried, I couldn't kill it ;).

Personally I used a socket for the DIP-8 package - just in case.

A minor point of criticism is the spacing between the current sense pads. I think it would be better when this would be a standard 2,54 mm spacing (and/or multiples of it), because right now you have to solder single pin headers and its not easy to get them aligned properly.

Nevertheless it is a solid kit and I'm happy with it. Thanks for the great project and your effort!

Excellent unit for the price

For Epic Re:load 2, the simple, robust, powerful adjustable dummy load

I’ve run tests on a pair of these set to 3.3V @ 2.5A, 5V @ 5A, 12V @ 2A, and 24V @ 1A, all OK. The latter two being slightly above spec, and causes it to eventually overheat and shut down. Also run 12V @ 2.5A, and 24V @ 1.25A for maybe 10 minutes before it shut down, but that is 30W, and thus 50% above spec for the Epic. After a power cycle all is good again.

I tested the current setting stability over a voltage range of 4V to 24V, and at 300mA and 1A it was excellent. It loses stability when you get to 3V or so – again as expected.

My only real criticism is the placement and choice of the adjustment potentiometer. With the Epic version, and 6A range, a single turn pot makes it somewhat difficult to set without suddenly going way over your goal. It is also a bit close to the heatsink, so a bit hard to turn – even more so when the heatsink is sitting at over 100°C!

If you plan to use it a lot, then get a multi-turn panel mount potentiometer and mount it in a box - that's what I am planning.

Thanks for the review! The prototype units definitely had the potentiometer mounted a bit too close to the heatsink. This is fixed in the production units, going out now.
