I used to convert schematic designs for synthesizer modules with PCB Wizard3; then get the boards produced in an excellent professional way by Elecrow in China.

However, my PCB Wizard3 developed a permanent fault so I needed to find an alternative, cost effective way to produce boards.

The David Haillant prototyping board is the solution, accommodating all of my designs; mostly with a single board, occasionally double-stacked.

Using PAINT 3D on my computer, I can draw up the layout using different coloured rectangles and lines to represent the components.

I tend to use the mounting holes for attaching to front panels using, the dedicated 'pot' pads as extra component space.

The process of producing a board is much more fun than a cryptic crossword!

Fantastic module

For DM77 - Eurorack Drum Module

All the build is perfectly documented and a breeze. You just need to follow the interactive BOM. I was short of 2 pots and I asked David if he could include it with the PCBs. He gracefuly did. All the interactions has been delicious. His webpage is super interesting and addictive. And finally, the module sounds awesome. I was not sure if I was going to like it. Ok. I fucking love it to bits. It has a LOT of different flavors and ways and even the possibility of processing audio throught it.

So a winner in all aspects. 12/10

Only thing I woud wish is him releasing more modules

Great!

I just received my LFO PCB in the mail and it looks really nice. (It even has optional footprints for different pots!) I've built the simple VCO before this one, which is a bit harder than this one. The matching transistor-pair/tempco part was a challenge, but I got it working in the end :) David seems like a good dude and his shop really helps the European synth DIY'ers like myself.

Great LFO with trough zero-capabilities!

I bought the Simple LFO 1.4 a couple of weeks ago. It has been quite the journey! (with a very positive ending)

I assemble it on an evening, was very uncertain about the placement of diode D2 and D3. Decided it would be best not to test that very evening, since I was already kinda tired.

The next day:
I tested it, and it didn't work, just didn't do anything. Immediately thought about the diodes. Tried removing them and re-placing in all ways, never got the expected voltages at the test points. Just removed them (read on your blog they were only for protection, guess I'll have to be careful :D ) No change at first. I was ready to give up...

Then I remembered I also seem to have a different way of connecting the plugs. I searched for a picture on the site, which showed them more clearly. And decided to follow his lead with the colors of the wires.

And then: it seemed to work. Not fully as I expected however. It would only give something at the bottom end of the range. Again, time for bed.

The following day, it worked perfectly! Very strange...

It's a very nice module with slow and fast LFO's! I'm also fond of the negative/positive waves, gives nice effects with modules that don't support it (such as Music Modular's Chord organ). Recommended!

Just one suggestion: make it clearer in the assembly guide how to place the diodes, and how to wire the plugs to the pots and jack. I had to hunt for pictures on his blog how they were connected, and the diodes I never figured out.

Thank you for your feedback.
I'm sorry you had difficulties with the orientation of D2 and D3.

The diodes are mounted vertically, with the "Cathode Up": the white band on the diode must be opposite to the PCB if you place the diode over the white circle drawn on the PCB.
In other words, the Cathode must be connected to the square pad while the Anode is connected to the round pad.

I will try to update ASAP the documentation to emphasize on this point, and on the wiring to the jack and switches.

Great module for a good price. I have two for a dual attenuvator (4hp). I tested it with my scope and ... no unwanted artefacts like noise etc.
Tip: Buy two.

Great Kit

Have build some modules before but mostly passive or very simple active stuff. I purchased PCB only and sourced parts myself. Parts are all easy to find and well documented. LFO worked immedeatly and was easy to assemble and solder. Communication with David was great, he was very friendly and helpfull.

26 Bus connectors? HECK YES

Because I live far away this took a little while to get to me, but David was great at communicating the shipping information.

The build was really easy. I accidentally had some legs shorted, so after troubleshooting that, I got it hooked up and running just fine.

Right now I am pushing 37 or so modules from it, by using flying bus ribbon connectors, and its holding up JUST fine.

Amazing product, customer service, and experience.

If you are *thinking* about getting this, you should probably just get it :)

It's Precisely What It Says It Is, And That's Amazing

For 606BD Clone

Many, many years ago I brought my Roland TR-606, that I had modified with individual audio outs for each drum, to a recording studio. The engineer said it had the strongest bass drum he'd ever recorded. Now, with much gratitude to Monsieur Haillant, I get the same power and weight without the hassle of syncing my 606. With a little EQ and compression, this bass drum is a monster! Easy to build and the parts are easy to find. A fantastic module!

I love it

SO easy to source parts and great measurements on the front panel if you wanna make your own, I found that really handy. I got the v1.4 and was a little confused about documentation, maybe the v1.4 documentation exists, or seller probably provides it if you ask, but i didn't need it anyway, just read the silkscreen and look at the product pics.
Very useful LFO, and it really is simple. I used multilayer ceramic capacitors and I still get a really clean signal.
5/5 product, shipping took a while, but it's from france, and im in new zealand, and it's also covid times so still very reasonable :)

Great power bus for my 6u 104hp euro rack.

Great power bus for my 6u 104hp euro rack. I have replaced my three home made boards with this one and 1 small home made board.
The size is perfect and the component are good quality.

One small minus point. Leds on the board polarity signs are not so clear.. I need to look at the wiki for leds connections. In 5 minutes.. problem solved.

The best protoboard for Sdiy !

The best way to test or build an electronic project ...

first, the board is vey well organized, raws, pots location, numbers of pad is ok for law and medium sdiy project like filters, lfos, vcas,...
sometimes i link two board for bigger projects !

the pcb pads are good quality, all stay ok after some or many solder, de-solder, re-solder operations.

the location of the pots and jack perfect feat to my panel design !

also, the location for decoupling and reverse protection is perfect and very much appreciated.

in conclusion

perfect for me

perfect for Sdiy project ! Go !

Best quality for the price. Flexible with many options.

I bought 2 PCBs and received them in Canada after a reasonable 2 weeks (I expected longer since it was in COVID-19 times). The boards are made of top quality, stiff and thick material. All components are clearly marked on the silkscreen, making it a very easy build. I really can't praise enough the Interactive BOM he provides... I really wish I had that for all the other builds I made! It saves so much time.

I installed and connected both boards inside a custom 85HP x 7U case and they fit perfectly. Commercial powered eurorack cases are all too expensive, so this product made me save a lot of money and the result I get makes it as good (if not better) than a commercial solution! I give this product a well deserved 10/10 :)

Excellant Kit and super flexable

I was excited when the kit arrived , well worth every cent , easy to build and customer support was fast for any questions , well done .....
a small documentation would probably solve a lot of questions ,I found some of my answers in the product description during the build. How ever the build is very straight forward plus I would not hesitate to buy more kits from Tindie.

Smart little pcb

Easy to setup and cheap. A smart solution to attach the pcb to the pannel. Sure that can be improved or completed with other PCBs, for example, without the power pins and with the same hole spacing. Thanks a lot.

For Eurorack Compact Power Bus

I have built a self-contained synthesizer loosely based on the EMS VCS3, though using a patchbay of 7 x 11 1/4" jack sockets in lieu of a Pin-Matrix. The modules were designed by Tony Allgood of Oakley Sound Systems and built by Paul Darlow of Krisp1.

I have now started designing an auxiliary cabinet to sit above the VCS3 and provide sequencing and reverb across a 3U and 1U panel (68HP).

The Compact Eurorack Power Bus will take power from a 4MS RP30 and distribute it to the following modules:-

Dual Barton BMC029 Clock Divider

Dual Barton BMC044 4-Knob sequencer

Dual Belton (Brick) single Channel Reverb

Pittsburgh Modular OUTS

Foxfield GEARBOX Clock Generator

Mattson Buffered Multiple

Foxfield UTILFO (x2)

The CEPB conveniently provides the headers required by the Foxfield modules.

A 'courtesy' socket also provides power for modules from Analogue Systems.

It was a very easy build, although I didn't include the Cap, LED and Resistor options.

Easy to build. Great price/value. Wide LFO cycle range.

You never have enough CVs! Quick to build and cheap. Took me around 2,5 hours to build (started with the PCB + Panel only). Worked the 1st time.

The one I built delivers cycles ranging between 90 sec (0.01 Hz) and 7 ms (142 Hz) and keeps it's frequency pretty stable over time. Great value for the price. David is a serious dedicated designer with top-notch quality products.
