Breathing new life into a favourite device

I had given up ever getting the screen working again on my trusty old evoke flow. It had finally faded to nothing about 5 years ago, and I stopped using it last year as t was getting harder guessing where the channels had moved to.

This module is a bit fiddly to install but not difficult . The hardest part was removing the old glass screen from the holder as it had been firmly glued in place. Apart from that the upgrade was incredibly smooth. The instructions are clear and easy to follow.

An excellent product that works brilliantly.

Replacement OLED screen for pure evoke flow wifi radio

This replacement was perfect so easy to fit with the detailed instructions. I had thought i would have to purchase a new radio as we use it all the time but the screen is as bright now as when it was new. Its a pity you have no more screens as several members of my family have the same radio and are starting to loose their brightness. Thank you.

Absolutely great

For Display replacement kit for Pure Evoke Flow and F4

After several years, the display of our Evoke Flow became completely blank quite quickly over a short period of time. I was reluctant to chuck it away and searched the internet for a solution. It seemed that all the sources for replacement displays had been exhausted, but then I stumbled upon this kit on tindie. The kit was very promptly dispatched (despite Covid). Once received I downloaded the repair procedure, which was clear and straightforward. Job took me maybe half an hour. Display now bright and brilliant! Three cheers for David Pye!

Excellent alternative

Excellent replacement for original display. Maybe slight issue in brightness management (display seems bright, even in the dark) and maybe slowing down a bit radio booting.
Fits perfectly in place, nothing missing in the kit, including the slightly longer screws necessary for adaptation.
Assembly instructions crystal clear. Great deal overall!

Saved my radio!

The kit was received in good time and all was in order as described. Fitting is a bit fiddly but take your time and it's easy enough. Re-assembled the radio with the new board and all was working in half an hour. Display is clear and everything operates as it did previously (as advised scrolling does show some blurring and the viewing angle is not quite as good as the OLED but it's not a problem). I'm very pleased with my purchase. Thanks David.

Great to be able to repair something!

The replacement screen came through the post quickly (shipped same day as ordered and delivered a few working days later to UK) and the instruction document online (on this page and with the URL given in the note in the box with the screen), were clear and easy to follow.

In my Evoke Flow there was extra glue holding in the old screen mount. I contacted the seller for some advice and he quickly replied suggesting I carefully remove the old glue with a blunt knife and avoid levering the glue away too close to the screw mounts. That worked a treat , as the glue was old, once some was carefully lifted and broke away the rest came off without too much trouble, just as the seller advised. The rest of the screen install went smoothly as per the instructions.

I now have a working screen again and will be able to use the radio for a little longer. It's great to have been able to fix it myself and very grateful that someone with the necessary expertise has provided the parts to do so! Many thanks!

Excellent product to resuscitate my dark Pure Evoke Flow

This has saved my excellent Pure Evoke Flow radio from the recycling bin because the dark, failed LED screen has now been replaced by a bright blue display.
I was totally daunted by the prospect of taking the radio apart and carrying out this repair but David’s excellent instructions complete with annotated photos made this all possible, even for an electronic newbie like me.
David is right to point out that there is a small blurring of the scrolling characters on the display and the optimal angle of vision is slightly less good than the original but these are small issues and I chose the blue option over the original style replacement because David suggested that it should last longer and not fade in the same way.
So my great radio is working again and there is a great sense of achievement for me for carrying out this repair.

I do not now expect to fit it for a few days now as my 97 year old mother is far from well.

Radio reborn

Thrilled that our Pure Evoke Flow is now working again, with a better and brighter screen. Excellent item, excellent service, arrived very quickly. Clear instructions are provided, even a novice can fit this. Not difficult just fiddly. I had a few glitches on the way but David communicated rapidly and all was sorted out in the end. Six stars!

Received product within 10 days (Netherlands), well packaged, with included 2 longer screws for re-installing with clear instruction where to apply them.
Instructions on internet excellent, clear step-by-step documented.
I (not an experienced technician at all) did it in 20 minutes.
One little thing, the original cable from the display tapers slightly off towards the end which makes it easier to slide into the plastic guiding groove thru the bracket.
The new cable is not tapered, so I could not use the groove. I don't think it matters as there is no tension on the cable at all.

Clear instructions, fast delivery. Really easy to install! What's not to like ! , Took about 20mins or so all in.
Works a a treat it's a really really bright display. Although... I am going to miss taking our kitchen radio into the cupboard under the stairs with all the lights out just to change the channel once every 6 months or so!.

If your on this page and not sure don't even think about buying a new radio, buy this !! 10 years since we bought our pure flow radio and it's still the best sounding radio we have - more so as of today when we can see the display for the 1st time in 4 or 5 years! . Thanks again! - Rory

New Pure Evoke Screen (by David Pye) Replaced and WORKS

Sourced a replacement screen together with board from David Pye in UK. Screen, Board and two extra length screws arrived very well packaged.
David has provided a down loadable PDF of fitting instructions from his website for those purchasing his invention.
Instructions are very clear and step by step with pictures making it very easy.
Working with caution and as a novice, it took about 1 hour including setting up work space and two small Philips head screw drivers.
Simply, the old screen is disconnected and removed, the New Screen is inserted and connected to newly provided Circuit Board, Reconnected to two ribbons, everything is screwed down and that's it. Turn on power, self tunes and wonderful Display lights up and works as new.
Highly recommended. Appears to be the only simple working solution out there.

Excellent & Easy Fix

Like other review mentions - kit arrived in good time containing everything I needed & exactly as described for an easy installation.
The way the kit has been put together & detailed online instructions written so well that anyone who knows how to use a screw driver with a little care & a light touch, can easily do the repair.
Only tools required were a mini screwdriver set, like you'd use for adjusting spectacles screws.
