One is not enough.

For Pixelblaze V3 Standard - WiFi LED Controller

This is my second Pixelblaze purchase, because I need more LEDs. Now my son wants his own set, so I've got to put another one together. Poor me.

Anyway, Pixelblaze makes building complex LED animations easy; you can update the patterns and mappings via WiFi, instead of having to reprogram the CPU.

Amazing little board for driving multiple LEDs

I'm a big fan of ElectroMage's products and already own one of these. Given its usefulness with Pixelblaze's support for multiple serial boards as well as the ability to use this driver with other controllers, I just had to get another.

I bought several of these and have been very happy with them. They work perfectly and are well documented. The software and hardware are both thoughtfully designed. And the size of the Pixelblaze Pico is impossible to beat. Super happy with these and will happily order again when I need more.

Excellent value for a high quality LED strip

I am so impressed with the Pico

For Pixelblaze V3 Pico - Tiny WiFi LED Controller

I wanted to add some RGB accent lighting to a custom keyboard, but since I didn't have access to the keyboard controller through the usual means (QMK/VIA) I was kind of skunked. Until I stumbled on the Pixelblaze Pico. This tiny little fellow easily fits inside the keyboard case and drives the lights so well it puts the more traditional methods of RGB control on keyboard to shame. Just being able to pull up the web page of the device in my browser to change modes is an absolute revelation.

It’s well made and with the supporting software can do some amazing things with strips, clusters, 2- and 3-d matrices of pixels. instructions for setup are straightforward, usage is well documented and backed by an active community. Of the numerous controllers I’ve used this is defensively my favorite. Very satisfied with this purchase.

Outstanding product, complete overkill for my need :)

I really just needed some adjustable lighting and came upon this for some reason. The Mage was helpful in suggesting a power option and I grabbed a Pico + LEDs from him. I just needed to solder on four wires and follow the easy directions on electromage.com

Nice pixels, very approachable

I really like how accessible and easy this board makes high quality led effects. Super low/no code, but offers modern interfaces if you want to go deeper. Nice community and directly from the control interface shareable effects. I also play with some WLED based Esp32 projects, which are fun and offers some cool functionality, but I keep going back to PixelBlaze for the easy high quality effects.

this Pixelblaze makes them look amazing !!! , plus this would be great for a large 3d cube easy to do !!!!

'I was shocked at the actual size of this controller when it arrived. It is TINY! I guess all the photos online are enlarged to show detail, but this unit solders onto a strip of LEDs and practically disappears. Fantastic size for crafting wearables and incorporating LEDs into almost any project. Will have fun with this!

I have been following Pixelblaze for a couple of years, and waited patiently for V3. It was worth the wait. Excellent communication from Ben, tracking on the package and delivery in 6 days to Canada. Tested with a 16x16 WS2812 matrix and straight out of the box, as promised, this blows the doors off any other controllers I've researched. Lots of great patterns and more on-line to download. There is also a forum for support and an Academy to bolster my (non-existent) coding skills. If you like LEDs and music, perfectly synced, don't have the time or money that DMX requires, this is the controller that will do the job.

Great product

I bought a Pixelblaze v3 with the sensor board. It is great fun. I have 20m of APA102 strip connected to it right now for testing. After that it will go up in my pergola. It is going to look great :-)
The boards are high quality and Pixelblaze is really easy to get started with. The only thing I find confusing is that the best documentation is for the v2 board and there are a few differences. Other than that little thing the kit is great fun!

Too easy, everything I wished for and then some!

For Pixelblaze V3 Pico - Tiny WiFi LED Controller

Used this in a 130cm carbon fiber prop, absolutely trippy!! It has a hard time connecting when in use about 16in behind you spinning above 1400rpms, gain a little altitude and kill the engine so it spins down and still wouldn't connect. Once on the ground, connection was pretty instant. I only recommend you create a playlist prior to turning on. Couldn't get the time auto-on to work but guessing that's more to do with running it as a dedicated network option. All in all I HIGHLY recommend this turn key super small form factor option!

An Amazing unit , easy to use , well worth purchasing, this really does pull out the colours of the leds .
If you really want to see what these little chip programable led's can do, then this is a must .
This works for led pendants . and say for Led 3d cubes ,(8x8 say)
Plenty of patterns to try and you can load in new patterns , and adjust the patterns too , delete patterns , if want .
There options to adjust how many leads are to be controlled
The brightness etc
TOP marks , they have well documented website , that is clear , and for me was easy to understand .

Pixelblaze is the best RGB LED controller, period.

I've converted all of my LED projects to Pixelblaze. Its just so much easier to use. Now I can concentrate my time on being creative instead of programming FastLED. Just slap in a pixel blaze controller and be done! 3D pixel mapping and seeing the code update on the fly is amazing. Using Firestorm to sync all the boards together is a dream come true. This is such a great product!

The best thing ever for LED enthusiasts!

I have been working with LEDs over 10 years, and while I'd seen the Pixelblaze mentioned, I didn't really understand what it did or how it worked. When I finally got one of my own, I was blown away. I LOVE the real-time interactive coding of patterns as well as the plethora of patterns available at the Electromage site. There are a lot of really clever aspects to the coding interface - e.g. easy to use timers and wave functions - that make it easy to generate visually complex patterns with relatively little code. The pattern mapping feature is easy to use as well, and really helps if you want to design patterns for lights arranged in a specific 2D or 3D layout.

Even if you're not into coding, the visual interface for switching patterns and creating a playlist is intuitive and straightforward., I was able to give a Pixelblaze--based gift to a non-technical friend and show her how to select her own patterns with it. This board is a powerful driver for LED projects for users at many different levels. The sensor board makes it fun and ridiculously easy to set up sound reactive projects. I love having a Pixelblaze around for when I'm prototyping projects because it's so convenient to set up interesting patterns on any layout. It's so easy that it feels a bit like cheating!

I'm a huge fan of this product and the community built around it, and I highly recommend it for anyone who wants to program a setup of more than just a few LEDs.

Lets you use LED controllers to control a lot of things.

For WS2811 Breakout for discrete LEDs (Pack of 10)

They work great. It lets you use an LED controller (like Pixelblaze)'s control data signal to drive any other LEDs, such as uncommon wavelengths.

The spec sheet says they can sink 18ma at 5V.

Pixelblaze Pico is really incredible

Pros:
* Same high performance as the full-size Pixelblaze; same amount of memory
* Form factor is amazing for wearables - fits inline with LED strips. It's like a stick of gum.
* Provides access to pins for sensor/expansion board compatibility
* Still has the button for changing patterns and WiFi reset

Cons
* It can run noticeably hotter than the full size Pixelblaze, but not dangerously so (it won't burn you)

Found the V3 Pico while sorting out how to do some FastLED programming with strings of 2811 LEDs . Lo and behold, for the price of the components, there's a full-on system to use and a very good one. I've only begun to explore the programming side of this but so far it's worked flawlessly and has been amazing and fun.

It almost feels like cheating it's so easy.

Powerful Pico, Perfect Pixelblaze

For Pixelblaze V3 Pico - Tiny WiFi LED Controller

I am in love with my pixelblazes. I push them to the absolute limit. I use them in my sculptures and they have revolutionized my LED control. The size is perfect for my wall sculptures, they fit in line with the LEDs, so hiding them is easy. Using multiple, they are powerful enough to drive my large installations. The modes are so much fun to play with and the wifi interface is intuitive. My favorite part of the control is the ability to write or rewrite the code in the compiler. I'm not a pro at Java, but my HS comp sci class gave me enough coding knowledge to tinker and create new looks, AND live compiling my code lets me instantly see my changes.

I've burned out 2 or 3. One was because I used the USB on V2 to power a full strip. The lesson is backfeeding power is a must for driving leds. Solder the red and black power connectors and the red and black of the LED strip wires right to the Pixelblaze, and you'll have no problem. I damaged another 2 after leaving it on for a week driving 700 pixels at full power. For long runs, I leave it set at 50% brightness, and haven't had any problems.

I'm hoping in future versions there will be an interface to sync timing and modes across multiple pixelblazes.

I also need a graphical way to map pixels, so I can map them over a drawing of my sculpture. It might work well enough for a few hundred pixels of circles, squares, and 3d arrays, but the mapping compiler isn't straightforward enough to map my 15k pixels on curves and zig-zags.


Pixelblaze is the ultimate solution for my standalone LED projects. If I had the money, I'd buy 1000.

Thanks for the review!

The micro USB connector is rated for 1.8A, so larger systems are much better off feeding power to the LEDs directly. You should still be able to use those if you get them 5V through the LED connector. If not, shoot me an email!

You can sync timing with Firestorm, or if you set up one Pixelblaze in AP mode and the others connect to it (though it doesn't sync which pattern is playing just yet).

For manual graphical mapping of pixels, I made this tool:

Nicely designed, surprisingly easy to set up

For ElectroMage Pixelblaze V2+ WiFi LED Controller

I was looking for an easy way to set up Dotstar LEDs, and the Pixelblaze V2 turned out to be even better than I expected. I set it up with a 1m/144 Dotstar strip, powered by a 5v 4a wall adapter (no USB). My LEDs had six wires, with two being alternative 5v and ground. These I connected to the power supply, while the four main wires were connected to the Pixelblaze terminals as shown in the documentation.
I wasn’t sure how effective powering the board in this manner was going to be but to my surprise it booted right up and I found the web interface right away.
A great board, well thought out and well documented. Very impressed.

Pixelblaze is Absolutely Phenomenal

For ElectroMage Pixelblaze V2+ WiFi LED Controller

I make a lot of LED sculptures and have purchased many Fadecandies, Arduinos + FastLED, and even a Pixlite 16 Mk II for $600. Pixelblaze trounces all of them handily (although Fadecandy has a special place in my heart always)

The fact that it has wifi and a built-in live code editor blows my mind. It's so easy to hack on this thing! If I have an idea for a new effect, I can edit a pattern on my iPhone. What other LED controller comes close?

I purchased two Pixelblaze V2s and two additional sensor boards; one sensor board was DOA (or maybe I fried it with ESD?)

I have since purchased several more Pixelblaze V3s, and I suspect the quality keeps improving.
