Good simple logic probe

For Logic Pen Kit

A simple to build and cheap logic probe. The stencil on the board is easy to read and the whole thing is simple to solder. The only issue I found was that the Green LED (constant current) lights very very dim (I suppose that it is a problem with the resistor that limits the LED current). The only enhancement I could imagine was a simple buzzer to complement the LEDs functionality. Overall I recommend this product and the seller (which resolved a problem with delivery of the package swiftly).

Super useful tool

For Logic Pen Kit

Thank you for the postcard, it is beautiful! It took some time to arrive in Canada, but it's not the seller's fault and it worths the wait. I assembled it in no time, checking all the parts on my testers; all were good. Got a bit of trouble realigning the IC's pins and I managed not to break any of them. Because I intend to use the probe for old 8-bit computers with LS chips, I was a bit in doubt if the HCs will match the logic levels, therefore I installed the chips on sockets to be able to replace them with LS or HCT. The finished board is installed in an Epipen case which is perfect for the purpose. I can easily take it out by removing a screw.
Overall I'm very satisfied with the probe and I'm sure it'll help me in my troubleshooting. I would have a piece of advice for the seller about his future shipping: attach the chips directly on the PCB in their normal position and bend only two pins to keep them in place. The foam can be stuck under the PCB and fastened with a rubber tie. In this way, you can avoid the chips' pins being damaged on the way to the customer.

Works fine, but silk screen and documentation not accurate

Very quicke delivery. The documentation shows a version slightly different from the shipped kit. The kit's silk screen for the LEDs is misleading (but correct on the documentaton): Try an intuitive interpretation of the silk screen and the solder the LED just the other way round. The silk-screened 4K7 resistor has been supplied as a 10k, but this does not seem to impair the function. The suppplied cable is just a bit too short to be useful. After these initial obstcles the logic pen performs as expected.

Is exactly what it is intended to be

For Logic Pen Kit

The kit is mostly clear and easy to assemble. As another reviewer mentioned, the polarity of the LEDs could be clearer. There is a little note about how the silkscreen image has one side smaller than the other to indicate polarity. Changing that marking to stand out better would be nice. However, that pretty much is just a nitpick that stands out because the kit in general is super easy to build and well marked. I've never learned to read resistor color bands, and the instructions even went to the detail of listing out which color bands are for what resistor. Very well done!

I can think of various tweaks that would make it more useful such as being SMT or having a built-in battery but those would go against the point of an easy to assemble kit. It currently fits perfectly into being both a kit to build and a useful tool

I highly recommend this kit. I've often encountered cases where I needed to check a signal on an output pin that isn't connected to an LED. Before this kit it involved hooking up a multi-meter, scope or logic analyzer. None of these provide the nice simplicity of just a LED output. So I think this fits in quite well alongside my tools. The price is excellent too!

Very fun little bot

For Mini Turtle with LiPo

There isn't a lot that can be said about the turtle bot that isn't obvious from the pictures and the video on the product description. If you are unsure, watch the video to see it dance. It is a little robot running on two motors with a battery on the back. It is remarkably fast and agile. I haven't tried the IR remote controls but the demo modes on startup have been fun.

I knew as soon as I saw the video I had to have one. It's just a really cool toy robot and I haven't seen anything similar before. It doesn't hurt that it is pretty cute too.

If only I could order a robot-army of turtle bots - muahahaha!!

Inexpensive kit that is fun to build and useful

For Logic Pen Kit

Great communication from seller when I placed my order. This is a fun and easy to build kit that is super useful for $9.

The led polarity on the pcb wasn't as clearly labeled as I would have liked but otherwise a quick & simple build. The IC pins were a little beat up from shipping but nothing too difficult to sort out.
