One of two devices does not work.

For SigmaLink USBi

One device has a loose connection. The second one operates as expected.
Reclamation was redirected to a forum. I expected a user friendly solution.
Now I have to order a substitution and have to pay for shipping again.

Device is not recognized by Windows and don't work!

For SigmaLink USBi

The device is either defective and is not recognized by windows as a USB device and the seller is refusing to refund my shipping cost after the device have been returned.
The full story:
I ordered the SigmaLink USBi programmer by the start of COVID-19 so shipping took forever. Two months past and I finally got my package.
I plugged the programmer in the USB port of my stationary PC and was met with a Windows info box stating that the device could not be recognized!! I thought it might be a cable issue, even though I bought a new cable for this programmer. I managed to get another cable and was yet again met with the same message. Testing with USB2 and USB3 ports did not change anything.
I thought it might be something with the PC, but no. After getting the same message from 3 different laptops with Windows 7 and 10 I have to conclude that this is a hardware issue. I did try to install the drivers from freeDSP but no luck, the issue remained the same. After testing with two different new cables, and with a powered USB hub I have to conclude that this is not a cable or power issue as all the tested equipment works with my other USB devices.
I have now returned the device and bought the original Analog Devices USBi programmer instead.
After more than 30 messages back and fourth with the seller I am still waiting to get the shipping refunded. I asked for a complete refund of my original order and was even willing to cover the return shipping myself, but was told to SUE the guy if I wanted the shipping covered as he claims to be unable to reproduce my hardware issues. This is such a ripoff. Save yourself the trouble and just get the Analog Devices programmer instead of wasting time with this junk.

This customer has encountered a case of unresolved hardware incompatibility since the item turned back fully working on my test benches. While I am more than happy to help resolve the problem, since it is impossible to test on all platforms exhaustively, I am not allowed to bend the store policy that denies all shipping refunds unless there is a demonstrable and reproducible quality defect.

Used with ADI's ADAU1452, ADAU1761, and AD2425W

Running windows 7 and Sigma Studio 4.2 and best I can tell all worked identically to the ADI USBi that I have. My rating for the documentation is fake because I plugged it in and it just worked, so no need to RTFM...

And I like the case to stop me from having it accidentally land on other things that would release the magic smoke found inside of the ICs.

Works well

For SigmaLink USBi

I use it to program an old ADAU1442 evaluation board. I had to configure the board to use I2C. So far it works great.

Very nice - Works perfectly on macOS with driver install

For Fused FTDI-free USB to UART adapter (5V, M180v3)

I bought a couple of these adapters in an effort to find something simple, inexpensive, and FDTI-free that would work with my Mac. (Shipping took a while, but that's to be expected from China to the US.) The adapters seem to be well constructed, much better quality than the typical Chinese stuff you find on eBay. Documentation is quite good.

When I first plugged it into my Mac, no new serial ports showed up in any of my serial terminal apps. I went to the documentation link on the Tindie product page, and under the installation section for OS X I found a link to download the required driver:

Installation Summary for macOS 10.13 "High Sierra": Download and install driver. Allow kernel extension under System Preferences -> Security & Privacy when prompted. Reboot. Re-install driver. Reboot. Done.

Helpful Installation Notes: I really don't like disabling system integrity protection (SIP) to get drivers working, but I was pleasantly surprised to discover that on macOS 10.13 "High Sierra", you actually get prompted to allow the kernel extension under System Preferences -> Security & Privacy, rather than being forced to disable SIP, which can be a real pain to do, and also a security risk. After reboot nothing showed up, so I decided to give the installer another go. After the final reboot, everything worked! I did not need to disable SIP. :)

Finally, a macOS USB-to-serial converter that works!

Arduino Core for this board

The hardware quality is amazing. But I could not find any information for the software. Where is it? Because I could not found the software for this board, I made Arduino STM32 variant, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b_IgPVzI7hU . The board works very well with the variant.

I do have some of the software, but I did not have enough time to prepare a release of it. This board was intended to run some new but Arduino compatible software.

Well made board; great customer support

For TCXO RTC module for Raspberry Pi (M171v2-R)

Haven't fired the board up yet. I will be putting this unit on a little RaspberryPi NTP appliance.

The unit looks well made and Mr. Max provides excellent support/communications!
He responds very quickly, provides good information in a friendly manner.

A product that simply does what it promises

For Fused USB to UART adapter (3.3V and 5V, M180/1v4)

This USB-UART adapter just does the job, the way it has to be done. Documentation is excellent, even when installing it on Windows 10 doesn't require any user intervention, and the pins are perfectly documented on the PCB as well.

I have ordered the module with straight pins, facing down, which unfortunately wasn't shipping safe, and the pins were bent in the envelope. I could straighten them, and even if they were broken, they could be replaced easily. However, it would be nice to have the option to order with the pins unsoldered, and leave soldering to the customer.

An other small issue is when connecting the module to a breadboard with the down facing pins, the module is not fixed tight enough to the breadboard, and the torque caused by the USB cable can loosen the module. It would be nice to have an other set of pins at the other end of the PCB (even if they are not connected to any function) to keep the board in place.

But even taking these minor annoyances into account, I am completely satisfied with the product. Thank you!

Regarding the issues you have pointed out here, the "straight pin facing down" option in M180-Series really is a kludge for breadboard users (since I am using it, both on breadboards and as part of the developer's kit of M177v2,) before I could release a proper, breadboard-friendly USB to Serial interface using a DIP-style design, breaking out all pins from CH340G, not just the ones defined in the SparkFun 6-pin interface. The DIP-like package can be protected using foam or tube during shipping, and will sit tightly on a breadboard.

Board looks great. Love that it is FTDI free.

The manual is good. Took me a second to find it as I'm new to Tindie.

Max does it again! Optical fiber couldn't be easier!

For Low Speed Optical Fiber Starter Kit

Max is someone you should watch, I imagine great things will come from his mind/workshop. He has a great customer rapport & knows his tech!
I had zero reason for this kit, other than curiosity. This kit is easy enough to figure out w/o any documentation, but Max is there to help out if needed. Soldering job for both thru hole & surface-mount are great.
If I had one suggestion for the kit would be on the optical fiber boards. Has a slide in type connector. Max has an 'adapter' from the slide to standard 6 pin usb/fidi connector, but this adds lot of bulk - I would have rather seen holes drilled into the board itself so end-user could choose slide-in card or pin-interface. But since I have no real need for it -- this bulk might be a non issue. The project I would like to use it on is a motorcycle based project, where there is an interface on the forks & 'computer' tucked away. This means A/C and D/C electricity / interference. Optical is immune from that stuff -- so while I had no reason when I ordered, I quickly found a problem to fit the solution.
My gut says that in order to have 3 nodes, you'd need a pair of cables for each node-pair that you want to talk to. (Just like a regular serial connection; it's not a 'network connection/topology')

update:
I initially dinged Max one star on documentation; but I revise it to 5 stars because of his prompt, professional, complete response to questions. He really does a great job! I cannot recommend him enough.

Great board!

For Fused USB to UART adapter (3.3V and 5V, M180/1v4)

I needed a new usb adapter for working at my bench -- but ftdi boards were starting to give me fits with driver conflicts (I was having to re-install drivers it seemed based on version of hardware being plugged in).
These boards worked right away -- in fact, I didn't even see windows "installing hardware" window.
The boards are spacious & easy to see the parts & understand what it's doing. The boards are very clearly labeled so you should have no problem with them.
I picked up both a 3.3v and 5v version. The soldering job on it is excellent. Voltage stability looks good. It did drop a bit as the amps crept closer to the max, but that's to be expected.
Max puts together a great product -- and complete product: He even includes a manual with helpful info (incl warranty info) and is well written (in english).
I think we're going to see a lot of great stuff from Max. (I plan on ordering his fiber optic boards just to play around with it.) Max is very responsive & helpful, should the need arise to contact him for help.
One of the few times I wish I could give more than 5 stars -- customer support is one of those things that seems to be lost these days from other vendors...

If you need a usb<->uart adapter, get this one (or both), you won't be disappointed!
