Great solution for CarPi
For Raspberry Pi Automatic ON/OFF V3.0 (NEW Version)
I purchased this to have a cleaner solution for my CarPi system. I had my own 12v to 5v converter, but it was a bit clumsy. And, I wanted to incorporate a safe shutdown mechanism, to keep from corrupting my SD-Card on the Pi. After wiring up a test system to a 12v battery the delayed power worked out of the box. The only issue I was having was making sure the Pi was powering off properly. I realized that it wasn't because I had glossed over the directions. In short, I didn't realize that the GPIO21 on this device HAD to be connected to the GPIO21 (pin 40) on the Pi for the Python script to trigger the shutdown. My bad! In short, I connected the USB-A on this device to my Pi's USB-C connection AND connected GPI021 to GPIO21 between this device and the Pi. Then everything worked as expected. I'm still learning about the Pi GPIO connections. I added a simple message in the Python script to log a shutdown just before the "poweroff" call.
This is a very clean solution. Shipping took about 13 days to the States.
