Great little battery for Pi0w
For Pisugar: Battery for Raspberry Pi zero
This is a nice, compact way to power a Pi Zero W. The setup is really very easy, just a matter of attaching the board to the bottom of the Pi. The magnet is a nice addition as it holds the battery firmly in place but still allows access to the mounting holes underneath.
I’ve used the battery under fairly constant load and I didn’t detect any unusual temperature spikes or excessive heat. Battery life for the standard version was good, 6-7 hours for normal processing, 3-4 hours for processor-intensive sessions.
Battery charge level is indicated by blue LEDs on the side of the board and these seem to be an accurate gauge of the battery charge.
I didn’t connect to the battery via WiFi, so I can’t comment on the connectivity or the information provided by the wireless interfaces.
The only connectivity between the Pi and the battery is as a power supply, and so does not provide direct access to the battery manager (got charge load, etc). This information may be available wirelessly and will be (as far as I can tell) a major part of the PiSugar 2.
The developer has also made a bunch of 3D files available for cases, with different styles for a pretty wide range of displays and configurations. These can be found on the GitHub project page.
I will be buying another PiSugar as I like the compact form factor, and feel confident about its stability and performance. I’m also looking forward to the PiSugar 2.
I’m extremely pleased with it.
