About

I made a USB C splitter that splits out the data pins from the rest of the pins so that devices can use legacy USB as well as USB C PD at the same time. My main use for this is so that I can use Android Auto in my car while simultaneously fast charging. Previously I had to choose one or the other.

Kind and detailed guide on Seller's manual was so helpful for me.
Finally it works for my Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3.
No more worry for battery during using Android Auto system on my Hyundai Sonata.

Great Product

It works perfectly for a S22+. Used the powerline+ cables that were recommended and amazon basics USB data cable. Also, user a 55 watt car charger for the fast charging. Would recommend.

Doesn't work with any of my phones

For USB C Splitter for Android Auto / Apple Carplay

I purchased this to connect a Kenwood Android Auto head unit to my main phone (currently, Pixel 5 but I have a 6A as well). I can *only* get my Pixel 5 or 6A to come up as a USB device in the following circumstances.

- USB data connected *first*
- Power provided via USB-A to USB-C cable, not USB-PD

If I do things in this exact sequence, the USB data channel comes up. If I change the sequence by connecting power first, the USB data connection will not come up. If I try to use USB-PD (in any sequence) the USB data connection will not come up. My Kenwood DMX9720XDS head unit only brings up the USB data connection after it has booted (~10 seconds after it is powered on). Any power provided from a supply comes on immediately when the ignition is turned on, so the sequence won't work. USB-PD can't be used as I cannot get it working at all with USB data via the splitter on these phones.

The Pixel 5 will charge, and will charge at USB-PD rates, but will not make a USB data connection unless the power source is not USB-PD. It will also not bring up its USB data connection unless USB data is connected first or at the exact same time as the USB data connection.

I also tried on an Oppo A76. The Oppo worked reliably but only charged at 500mA even when connected to a USB-PD charger.

I can't recommend this product. I believe this setup needs to be an active circuit which performs negotiation on behalf of the phone and the USB data device (i.e., a head unit).

The cable quality really is important though.

No problems with customs for me (Germany).

Does exactly what I wanted and solved my problem

For USB C Splitter for Android Auto / Apple Carplay

I've owned a car with Android Auto for over a year, and have been constantly frustrated that it couldn't keep my Google Pixel 6a charged while using it. I was all ready to spend $100 for a wireless Android Auto adapter, but then this dongle came back into stock, so I figured I'd give it a try.

I purchased some fairly high-quality USB cables from Amazon, along with a new PD charger. After getting everything plugged in, I was happy to see both a stable connection to the car's head unit and that the phone was now fast charging. I've been testing it for the last few days, and so far have no complaints. The dongle is currently mounted to the underside of the dashboard in the console tray area where the USB and 12v ports are located. It's tiny, and easy to hide.

In an ideal install, I could imagine the car's USB port being disconnected, the PD charger and data ports connected up out of sight, and then a new USB C port being used in place of the car's original one. But just plugging it all in and using a bit of cable control and double-sided tape works just as well. The dongle's build quality is solid, and works as advertised.
