Great board, well done.

For MIDI Booster Pack PCB

I'm pleased with the MIDI booster pack. I plan to use it on the the TM4C123 evaluation board to generate random MIDI like the external Moog Sample and Hold from the 1970s.

Fantastic kit

For MSP430 Nixie Clock kit

I somehow managed to get the last kit that Rob had in stock. I wanted to solder everything as soon as it arrived, but the web site with the documentation was down. Wrote to Rob and he emailed me a copy of the docs by the next morning, though by the time I checked the web site was back up again. The instructions are clear and easy to follow. I made one mistake because I didn't read the entire part on the LEDs: I soldered them straight to the board. I should have realized they were intended to go through the holes, but it was the last step and I was excited to be done. I don't think I'll use them anyway, but I've ordered some replacements from Mouser and I'll solder the new ones in the correct place just for completeness.

The clock looks fantastic, and I love that it has settings for 12/24h mode and for the backlight brightness. I suppose I should probably find a spare tube for when one eventually dies.

Amazing Product and Amazing Help!

For MSP430 Nixie Clock kit

I did not have much experience with electronics (other than a circuits class in college) going in to this and was able to put this together with ease. I had some issues with the digits not working and Robert was able to help me over email very quickly. His help and instructions were awesome. This is the cheapest kit I have found and was so much fun to put together and I love it sitting on my desk. The power supply is a little cheap (mine fell apart) but I was a little rough with it and just ended up shoved the PCB back in, it still works. Overall very pleased!

Very economical and easy to build nixie clock.

This is the first Nixie clock I have built. I was going to build my own from scratch but it's much easier building on a premade pcb. Worked with no problems except one of the blue LED's was bad. I replaced it with another I had. I would highly recommend this kit. There could be small improvements such as battery backup but of course this would increase the cost of the kit. Very economical for a simple Nixie clock.

Works great but small error UGL for v3

Thank you for your review.

There's no error in my UGL library. Two of the pins are defined for v2 of my board, not v3 (you have to change 3 numbers to make it work with v3.)
Update to my library is coming soon (new LPs, LCDs, and touch support.)

Also, my library was not meant to be used with Energia.

Great Nixie Kit

For MSP430 Nixie Clock kit

Great kit at a nice price with PS and Case. Very easy to build, take time to sort the resistors. Haven't had a kit this good since HeathKit disappeared!

I put more filters on the LEDs - cut from a grey static bag. At setting 1 they were still too bright.

One suggestion on any revision. Put a blinking colon or blink the background per second.

THANK YOU for such a great product!!!
This was well designed and fun to assemble.
Having built these kinds of things in the past, I really appreciate the efforts that went into this kit.
It is obvious that a lot of thought went into it. The LED backlights are a great embellishment, nice touch.

It worked with no problems encountered. The excellent part photos were very helpful for I.D.
I found that the resistor color code is hard to read with my older eyes so a multimeter was essential to verify the values before soldering them in.
I plan on buying more to give as gifts for friends.
The documentation was perfect for my skill level but a beginner may need more ? Hard to say.

Can't recommend this vender enough.

Nice LCD module at a bargain price.

I have used this LCD module with a TIVA Launchpad and a CC3200 Launchpad. The PCB hosting the LCD module is very nicely laid out. It features some solder jumpers for IO selection and an optional control of the backlight. I had to look around the TIVO and MSP430 forums to find the documentation (schematics of the board, data sheet for the LCD controller IC and a TIVA library) It would be nice to have a link from the product page to a ZIP file containing all of this.

Very nice boosterpack with an awesome form factor

For GPS BoosterPack

First off a couple of general comments. I had not too much time to play with the item yet, so some things might need updating later.

The pinout of the BP is straight forward on the TIVA LaunchPad. RX/TX connect to U1TX/U1RX respectively, and PPS is hooked up to PE5.

The GPS module itself is a Quectel L80, with documentation readily available on the internet. The L80 is based upon a MediaTek MT3339, hence GPS only. V_BCKP is directly connected to VCC, so no backup battery, thus EASY/AlwaysLocate are not supported. The L80 implements LOCUS, which means one can use the MT3339 internal flash to log data. Quectel configured it for basic logging content, UTC time, fix type, lattitude, longitude and height. One should note though, that LOCUS requires about 64KB of memory to be parsed due to the layout of the data. The TM4C123GH6PM on the LaunchPad I used has only 32KB, so parsing the log is only possible offline. The NMEA protocol implemented by the L80 will emit 4 fractional digits for longitude and latitude. This results in a resolution for the position reports of 18cm worst case at the equator (UBLOX units have a 1cm resolution in binary mode). The only unexpected thing I overlooked in the documentation initially is that the L80 always sends a GPTXT message per position fix indicating as to whether the internal or external antenna was used. This sentence cannot be disabled according to Quectel support.

I did test the unit with a USB bridge over to a PC to check out the protocol in use and various features like static threshold, AIC and so forth. Got a really nice fast fix on my frontporch (have to admit I did less testing due to the cold temperatures). 7 GPS satellites in use, plus one WAAS satellite.

My 2nd test was with the unit attached to a Launchpad and an SDCARD for logging purposes. It was placed directly over a local GPS reference marker that is fairly easy to access and free of obstacles. Turns out that the unit was rather precise with a CEP of more or less 0.5M. Almost no static drift over the whole period. I will not quote any specific values, as this was done is a cold and snowy night, so might not be that representative.

I do really like the formfactor. The L80 is a nice replacement for say a UP501, and definitively way more cost effective than say a comparable PAM-7Q.

My original intention was to use this BP along with an IMU for an autonomous rover. There the mentioned position resolution is a tad of an issue compared to UBLOX 6 or UBLOX 7 based systems. On the other hand, the static drift turned out to be way better.

Have given up on this. Terrible experience.

For Color LCD BoosterPack with Touch panel

All we get is a white screen. There is documentation, somewhere out there. It's next to impossible to find.

If you're a pro and know what you're doing, I'm sure this is a good deal.

For those that are educational, beginner or intermediate, wait for documentation or instructions to be complete before buying this. Was a big mistake for us.

There needs to be simple setup instructions. If you expect to sell on Tindie to people who are new or intermediate *which IS the point behind Tindie* you need to have instructions. Not this forum based searching endlessly back and forth between "old" versions and "new" versions for libraries that don't even compile or have constant compilation errors.

Terribly frustrating experience. White screen is all we get. Will never buy from this vendor again.

A great product

For WS2812B pixel boards (PCB - 18pcs)

I have 200 WS2812B LED's to assemble into various configurations and I was dreading the task until I found these boards. I cannot think of a simpler way to get the WS2812B's and their decoupling capacitor ready for primetime! I only got 2 boards (Handles 36 LED's) because that was all that was available at the time. As soon as these are back in stock I will be scooping them up.

The quality is excellent, the price is unbelievable, the shipping was super fast. If you need to corral a bunch of WS2812B's you WILL want these!

Terrific little boosterpack at an excellent price

For MIDI Booster Pack Kit

This product is excellent for its purpose, allowing midi code development for the Stellaris/Tiva Launchpad. I had no issue building it (took minutes), and it worked great first time. The only issues I had was converting the Stellaris code to the TI Tiva libraries along with my using IAR, but these are normal and did not take long.

The only hardware issue I had was the socket included for the optoisolator was 6 pin, and the opto is 8 pin. However this was not a problem for me, I soldered the opto directly into the PCB and kept going.

Shipping on this item could not have been faster, I received the kit literally the day after I ordered it! I think the shipper is in the same state as I am.

Finally, the price was far less than I expected. Very pleased. In fact, I am very happy with the purchase overall, and would not hesitate to order more packs or products. Very Well Done!

Awesomeness

For 2.2" Color LCD Booster Pack (320x240)

I am using this Boosterpack on my Autonomous Rover with a Stellaris/Tiva Launchpad. Needed something to print out some information (like GPS heading and such), as well as a good way to log data.

The ILI9341 (or whatever variant it really is ;-)) is pretty standard, and my own code ported to it within minutes. The microSD slot worked also pretty much right out of the box, and 20MHz SPI rate. Using similar setup, I was only able to get 13MHz before due to noise issues.

I did crash one of those units just 6 days before a competition, and RobG got one to me within 3 days !!!!

Downsides ? None really. The TFT and microSD share a common SPI bus, so coding to that get's a tad tricky with an RTOS. The pinout is reasonable, and at least for me did not cause any conflicts that I could not work around. Both not really a downside, just something to consider beforehand, rather than being surprised later on.

Works great!

For 4 Channel Constant Current LED driver (PCB)

This is a great little board with few components and it does exactly what it should.
I needed individual boards and cut the board in 4 with a sharp knife and the corner of a small file.
This is my first SMD soldering project. I used a small ended soldering iron. The inductor was difficult to solder and with patience the other components soldered fine. Once soldered the board was tested by driving a 10W LED from a 12V supply. The dimmable pin worked a treat.
My suggested improvements would be the ability to buy fully made boards and also separated boards.
The price of the board makes this is a fantastic value LED driver PSU, small and powerful.
It worked for me and I would recommend it.

Handy /Useful features and helpful information

For 2.2" Color LCD Booster Pack (320x240)

1: This does require assembly of the 2 connectors onto the PCB (soldering iron and solder heh)
2: It is wise to read the directions first and procure the schematic (ahem) which I found very useful
3: be sure to download the demo from http://forum.43oh.com/topic/1956-universal-color-lcd-graphics-library/#entry16849 as well to examine how to use it effectively.
4: look for which launch pad you are using
5: demo code works as is with MSP-EXP430F5529lp with proper switches toggled
6: be sure the other CS inputs (apart from the LCD) do not conflict with other booster packs if you plan to share these.
7: Care should be taken when removing the display from a launch pad due to the connectors fingers tend to suddenly release they can bend the headers (hence care)

The good side of this is, you don't need to get an SD card connector etc. which can make quick experiments significantly less painful. The only down side is a bit of soldering, if you don't have the tools handy that is (most people do/ should if experimenting). Honestly the board alone saved me a whole lot of fooling around so it was all good for me.
Value wise, I recomend looking around for the TIANMA TM022HDH26 (the LCD on this) this board is very economically priced with this particular LCD, and the creator has done a fairly good job on layout and design. All I can say "keep making boards like this and I'll not need to make as many of my own."
Use wise, do consider that the speed of the bus is limited. The driver IC is the ILI9340, the top write communication rate is 15mbps and read rate is 6.6mbps. For the vast majority of what people do that should be sufficiently fast (unless you are doing real time video .. somehow).
From a 1-5 I give it a 5, does everything I need works without issue and the creator will give you information if you ask.

Very Nice

For Color LCD BoosterPack with Touch panel

Just a quick note to say how great these things are.
I had one of the older version and I just bought 2 of these new ones.

Once I became familiar with it, I have found them extremely easy to codewise.
The screen is easy to view from many angles and is colourful and bright.

I am using them on my Stellaris projects and they handle most of my input and display output needs.
