Great little battery powered e-ink device
For ESP8266 - 2.9" ESPaper Plus Module, WiFi ePaper
I received the unit yesterday and started tinkering with it today. So far, everything is great, excellent tutorial to get going with all the steps to get the weather station up and running. Only thing missing is the baud rate you need to set, it needs to be at 115200, this is not the default in arduino ide.
The unit is relatively well made, the screen inside the casing is not completely level (2 or 3 degrees off I'd say) but it's barely noticeable. I might be able to fix that once I crack it open. Packaging was excellent, everything you need including cable is in the box.
Refresh rate is slow but I guess that's normal, I was expecting the refresh to occurs asynchronously to the display refresh but the whole screen goes black when you press the button. That might just be a software issue though, I have not dug into the source code yet.
All in all, this is a very cool gadget!! I wish there were a bigger version with a bigger battery!

Also, if international shipping weren't so illogical at times you would have received the parcel much faster. Did you notice in the tracking history how your parcel landed in the destination city (coming directly from far east) just to be sent to Germany for routing before coming back to the same destination city?
